"Yes. Please report that to his division head. That's never supposed to happen, ever. Frankly, people take out the pitchforks if you use it in self-defense, let alone just because you're irritated about a present. If he did that to a civilian, we'd all get in trouble. And he could have killed you."
no subject
"I don't think that's a good idea. I'm alright. Thanks to you."
He smiles appreciatively.

"What is wrong with people here," he clips, "and why do you all want to be strong instead of reporting someone who's a danger to someone who can do something about it?"
no subject
"Not being strong, opposite actually. Not in a hurry to get my ass kicked again. It's just a bad idea. Trust me."

"Can you just not put me in the book? I don't need to be in there."
Panic starts to rise.

He squints, starting to suspect he doesn't know the full story. "Do you two have a history or something? If you did, why did you give him a present, and why was he so attached to it that he attacked you?"
Unless it wasn't about the present.

"I think that it would go away if we just ignored it. You just don't put me in your book and everything is fine. This happened to me shouldn't I have some say in this?"
He doesn't answer the other questions and folds his arms over his chest.

"Don't I have a say in my care?"
A long moment passes and Edgard scratches the back of his neck.
"I gave everyone a gift that I felt like I knew. We went on a mission together. I thought it would be nice. Something friendly people do?"
He spreads out his arms and then,
"He didn't know I wanted the bowl back. We didn't even get that far."
no subject
"So...why did he attack you? It doesn't...have to go in the logbook."
no subject
"He found me in his room." He whispers.

Whatever he was expecting, it clearly wasn't that. He supposes he shouldn't be too hard on Edgard. He did try, he just...tried in the worst possible way.
"I, um." Colin clears his throat. "I think, um. I can put something in the logbook that doesn't, um. Raise a fuss. Medical advice: never doing that again. Especially not when it's a mage. And probably, um. Stay away from Marcus for..."
He considers how long it might take Marcus to stop being pissed.
"...ever."
no subject
"You-you're not going to tell anyone?"
He can hardly believe what he's hearing.
no subject
"Is there any good it would do?" He starts writing in the log. "Sounds like the two of you have resolved it yourselves."
no subject
"No. I just--"
He puffs out his cheeks.
"I expected you to be angry?"
Colin never seems to react the way Edgard is expecting.

"Trust me, Marcus was not the frightened one in this scenario. He's fine. He didn't have to get healed."
Edgard huffs again.

"You're saying I deserved it."
no subject
"No. I'm saying there's no point rubbing it in. Edgard, mages aren't taught how to defend themselves except in one way. And that one way ranges from very powerful to extremely powerful.
Even if a mage is trying to give you a minor shock, it's more likely to be a major shock because magic is like that. For most purposes, it's an overreaction. Marcus felt threatened, and his only option was to overreact."
no subject
"I see. I will do my best to keep that in mind."
He slowly attempts to get up. He's still a bit sore.
"We're on the same page, seems like." He says wonderingly. It's still not what he expected at all.
"Thank you for helping me. That was.....unpleasant."

He finishes writing and sets the logbook aside.
no subject
"That's not a medical treatment. But, I'll consider it."
Edgard lowers his voice to a hush.
"May want to reinforce your locks. The locks in this place are...not secure. It's a little worrying."
His eyes suddenly widen and he waves his hands.
"Not that I'm going to break in! Just that--other people might."
