"Was Skyhold so fine?" she asks, perhaps inevitably. Given their surroundings, it's hard not to wonder--whether it's wondering about Skyhold's finery or Thranduil's actual preferences. "The dream, it is all I knew it from."

"It was familiar," he says. "And a great many friends who have sense departed were made there. I confess, I did not pay much attention to it in the dream. I did not want my memories clouded."

He gestures at the door with an unfurl of his fingers. "Would you care for something to drink? To ward off the chill."

"Thank you, yes." If someone offers you water, you never decline: a simple rule of her life before the Marches. Even when it isn't water at hand, her feelings on the matter remain the same. "That last march up the mountain--you didn't go?"

In the dream, of course.

He stands, leaving her for the table, already set. Plucking two glasses and the bottle of wine, he meanders back to the fire, setting one of the glasses down by her hand.

"I did," he confirms, "as did my wife. But I had known all along that very little of what I was seeing was real. I saw only her, thought of very little besides her. The Herald, to be sure, but the intricate details of the surroundings mattered very little."

"A man in love." Aenor gives him a smile, teasing, and picks up her glass when it's filled, taking a gulp. Wine in glasses served in carefully decorated homes isn't how she normally drinks, and perhaps it shows. But she's cheerful enough about it. "After your Herald spoke, I think, the surroundings stopped mattering."
