"Don't be so glum, look, druffalo wrangling is bound to be messy work. If you get thrown into the dirt well...that's part of the job," if you understand what he's saying, not that he gets it really, but Edgard really seems to be itching to roll around in the mud.
"Look, I have an idea," Dante glanced upward, his eyes fixed on a point, a tall wall on a mountain side, "now I might have been seeing things but there could be a dragon nesting nearby, young, not very big...but big enough to snack on a duffalo."
He's lying, Dante saw no such thing.
"It would make sense, right? A herd of druffalo converging in one place, it's a dragon buffet!"
So why wouldn't there be dragons?
"I'll try and harass it into swooping down onto the druffalo and scaring the shit out of them, hopefully it will drive them south and you can snatch a few in the chaos."

"A dragon! parfait! Sounds like a great idea."
It is, in fact, an extremely dangerous idea as Edgard well knows. A Druffalo stampede is one thing, a druffalo stampede followed by an angry dragon, even a baby dragon, is quite another. But, Edgard tends to outweigh rationality in favor of fun.
Also, this man spoke positively of dirt which is enough to convince Edgard of anything.
"Let's do it. Sure you can take on a dragon? Done it before?"
Edgard rubs his hands together, ready for anything.

Dante still thinks dragons are an excellent idea even if he's making it up for the sake of the mission, a short-term goal would be to find a dragon and maybe ride one. Dangerous? Yes. But it does sound like a good time.
"So, I'm going to climb that hill and as soon as you see the dragon take cover, but keep the druffalo in your sight," Dante began, walking in the direction of said hill, "if all goes well, I'll join you and we'll wrestle with some druffalo."

He gives Dante a big grin and thumbs up. He's ready.
"Won't let a single druffalo out of my sight. You keep that dragon in yours though, don't get yourself killed."
He huffs.
"Hate to lose a new friend so quickly!"
Because mud? dragons? This is the stuff friendships are made of!
"If it goes awry, go for it's eyes." He points a finger. "The dragon." He clarifies. "Though doubt a druffalo would like it either. Or me." He waves him forward. Go forth, Dante!
