It feels sacrilegious as hell to play Aerosmith on a dulcimer, but this is a riff Ellie's been working on doing properly, and it's a shame not to bring it out when they're just fucking around.

She waits for a minute, then strums out the beginning riff of Walk this Way.

(Of course, the vocals are what really make this one.)

Of course Bastien is no help with the vocals. But crouched down in the pit to sort through a pile of smaller percussion instruments, he stops and listens. And he likes the riff. So much so that a few seconds after Ellie's reached the end of it, it echoes back at her—a little incorrectly, a few notes forced into patterns that are more familiar to Thedosian ears—on the mysterious flageolet.
