NOTES: Some fighting, altogether Indiana Joneslike archaeology. Meaning it's not really archaeology, it's just fighting and mystical weird ancient places.

"Old." Which- is not an answer, she knows, but it is very old. Old enough to excite her, at least. "There's power in it, something a mage could likely bring out, though I'm not sure what it would do. But it's very, very old -- potentially from the time of our People."

"Oh." A pause, "Ooooooh." She breathed out for a moment, before she looked over at Merrill, reaching one eyebrow. "...should we go over and ask them if we can poke at it?"

Another pause, and then a nod as Merrill pulls up some confidence. This place makes her feel small, young, and as if she's surrounded by ghosts -- but this is what she does. "Yes. I mean, we probably shouldn't set it off on accident, but there's no harm in looking."

"All right." Katniss lifted her torch, and moved towards the object. Not getting in the other two's way, just yet, standing back just far enough so she could get a real look. If Merrill found it even more fascinating this close - she'd poke Sam so they could get a peek.

She's practically vibrating with excitement, really. It's a wonderful artifact, even if no one is quite sure what it does -- perhaps because of that. "Look at how round the edges are. It's perfect."

"It's like a globe ... " Katniss murmured. She had seen such a thing - not this of course, but just globes at the Redcliffe markets. "Do you think they know how to turn it on?"

"Magic, most likely," Merrill says -- she's a bit biased, but it's an ancient elven artifact. Why wouldn't it be magic? "I think Morrigan likely suspects, at least, but maybe she's wary of doing it here? Just in case something strange happens."

"Okay, so we don't have to, I don't know, howl under the full moon and chant to the Creators to get it to work. That's good." Katniss breathed out a sigh of relief.

"I- Creators, no! You've been listening to too many stories, da'len." Not that she's that much older than Katniss, but if she thinks those sorts of things are true, then at least young in the education of her elf heritage.

"Likely just a touch of magic, focused the correct way."

"...I was being sarcastic, Merrill." Was the faintly wry response, but she didn't correct her on the da'len part. After all, she wasn't the mage around here.

"Huh. So ... maybe we could turn it back on when we get it back to Skyhold?"

"Oh! Oh, good." It can be hard to tell, after all.

"We may be able to. We should likely give someone some warning, but yes." Maybe not Templars, though, because... well. They get antsy.

Katniss gave her another wry look, before she offered a gentle 'pat' on Merrill's shoulder.

"Hrm. Which one of the advisers is the one we ask about magical experiments?" She asked, thinking it over.

"Um." Good question.

"Whichever one will let us do it?"

"Huh." She was about to ask a better one.

"Which one is that?"

"I don't have the slightest idea," Merrill admits, rubbing the back of her neck.

Katniss looked at her for a long moment, before her lips twitched up. "All right, we're clearly going to have to do some work here. Which one scares you the least?"

There's another pause. "Well..." She's slow to start, or at least to say more, scuffing her foot along the floor.

"I knew Commander Cullen in Kirkwall, sort of. And I think maybe he'd feel more comfortable about it if we went to him directly? Since he was a Templar and knows how to protect and prepare for that sort of thing."

Katniss bit her lip for a moment, before she speaks slowly, "Well, the Commander and I have a personal relationship -- so he won't agree to anything that will be a danger to either one of us. He'll also be careful not to be prejudiced to either one of us, so we'll know he'll give it his full consideration. I think that's a great idea, Merrill."

"Personal?" Merrill. Not the time.

"When he's not busy trying to herd the soldiers around like cats, I suppose -- or, well, not as busy. I imagine things have been hectic for him." For all the advisers, really.

"Very personal." Was Katniss's firm reply. Which meant, they were extremely close and no she wasn't going to gossip about it.

"... the soldiers sometimes act like cats." Is her dry response, and a deep sigh. "It has been. We should probably wait until things quiet down."

It's not gossip, it's information! Or something.

"At least until we get back to Skyhold," she laughs, shaking her head. "We should look at the other murals, while we're here; I think this, at least, will be coming back with us."

Well, she and Cullen are together and that was that.

"Agreed. Let's get to work." She nodded her head off to the side, so they could start scanning the other murals. "See what we can find."
