Even though it was unspoken the understanding between them was clear enough, and Bruce's smile widens a bit more. It's good to know that they're on the same ground; it would cause less problems in the future.

"It's been a troubling couple of years," he replies, writing a few more words on his journal before he sets it aside - he can always finish it up later. "But I'm glad to see that you're well too." It did make him feel better, knowing that the people he had treat were still alright out there. In a way it made him feel accomplished for what he was doing, like what he was doing truly mattered. It was reassuring, if anything else.

It would be easy to turn the question around, true, but Bruce wasn't going to do that - she was free to explain to him if she desired so, but Bruce had no intention to pry into her affairs. It would be hypocritical of him to do that, considering how much he valued his own privacy.

"I simply felt that it would be the best to help out here, considering how things in Thedas are right now." What with the explosion at the Conclave, and the countless people affected by all the infighting that was going on - be in Orlais or the struggle between Templars and mages - there was always going to be people who needed help. And being part of an organization that was dedicated to reaching out to aid these same people... it seemed only natural for him to be part of it. Even if he was well aware of how dangerous it could be as well. But his own safety was secondary to what was important, especially in a time like this.
