Benedict peers at her, narrow-eyed and suspicious, not a trace of jest in his tone.
"Can I help you?"
no subject
"Nope. Move along." There we go. Handled.
And before he can say anything else, she's walking into her office and heading straight for the desk.
no subject
"Get out," he growls, his palm beginning to glow slightly.
no subject
"You really want to go there, Benedict?" She's watching his outstretched hand, but she doesn't back off.

He casts Paralysis, intending to freeze Clarisse in place as he comes into the office and past her to the desk.
"Ask me how I know you don't have Ellie's permission to be here," he drawls, putting his hands on its surface to glare at her, "oh-- never mind. You can't."
no subject
"Ellie hasn't been here for half a year."
After all these months, it still hurts hearing her name like that. Maybe it's because of the way Benedict's talking about her. Like she's still here somewhere, just stepped away for a bit.

He mouths 'Clarisse', questioning, and picks up a document to see it better. what

"Not Ellie, is it?"

Removing the cloth belt from around his tunic, he comes back around the desk to begin hurriedly tying Clarisse's hands behind her back, knowing he only has a little more time before the spell wears off.
"Whatever nonsense you're up to," he continues brusquely, "nobody's in the mood for it."
no subject
"The only nonsense happening is you all ignoring what's right in front of you," Clarisse says. As Benedict comes around behind her and starts wrapping the belt around her wrists, she shoves him backwards as hard as she can with both hands. If she really wanted to make him stay down, she could, but Clarisse isn't interested in fighting Benedict right now. She just wants to get out of here. She's already seen what she needed to see.
She takes off down the hallway before he has a chance to come after her again.

Note to self: invest in a timer for these things.
The sound he makes is somewhere between a gasp and a yelp as he hits the wall, and Clarisse is well out of the room by the time he rolls onto his stomach and shouts an alarm into his crystal.
