Through this, Bastien's attention on her is the kind that used to get him in. Into confidences, into beds, into secured areas. The look of a man on the edge of being charmed, fascinated, or impressed by someone who only needs to try a touch harder to seal the deal. Plenty of people find that very motivating. Maybe she'll pretend she does, too —

"Oh, me?"

He smiles.

"I'm in the Scouting Division. It isn't an official position, but I am in the charge of all of the spies, actually," and maybe this is giving up the game, but he's having a good time, putting his hand to his mouth to shield it from lip-reading eavesdroppers who are not actually in the room, so that's a risk he's willing to take. "Because I am the best one."

Yseult lets her genuine surprise lift her brows, pull eyes a little wide. And maybe she is impressed, a little. It's surely not the smartest choice of gambit but it is possibly the boldest and something in his delivery makes her think suddenly of Darras, telling flagrant lies and daring her not to smile.

She leans in, starting to lift her hand to mirror is, shoulders hunching like she's going to whisper behind it, and then dropping back a little, smile converting to the beginnings of a wary, slightly wounded frown. "Are you having me on?"
