[closed] you suck so passionately

WHO: Beleth, Cade (Alistair later)((AND NERVA))
WHAT: THROW DOWN
WHEN: the last day or so in Emprise de Lion
WHERE: Sahrnia Camp
NOTES: There will be a thread for reactions if you'd like your character to be present/see it from the side, but please don't intervene!

Cade has been a bit off since the red lyrium incident. The initial bout of overt aggression passed a while ago, but he has remained sensitive to how much still hangs around the camps; this compounded with how little sleep he's getting, how cold it is here, and the general desolation of being in a place where so many of his former brethren have been fouled by evil, has put him in a black mood colored by the lingering paranoia and heightened aggression he's felt ever since coming in contact with the accursed stuff.

He is on-duty as a camp guard, having been held back from returning to the field as a result of what happened the last time. He has worn a ditch in the snow from his ceaseless pacing, and his bearing is twitchy, over-reactive, and suspicious.

"I can't even punch him in the face? Just once?" Korrin knows that won't fly, but she'll doubtless be fantasizing about it a great deal. "...fine. You ask so much of me. As long as they keep him away from you and weapons, I'll hold back."

Barely. That comment and eyebrow wiggle distract her, though, and she smirks. "I think she would greatly appreciate that, considering. The first time she stopped by the tent, we ended up traumatizing the moron with our mere presence. He caught one glimpse of my chest and ran off like I'd set his ass on fire."

Now she's dearly wishing she had.

"If Skyhold doesn't do anything, you can bet Merrick will. Which may start a huge feud between Dalish and Templars, but who knows." Beleth sighed quietly, shaking her head. "I can't really stop him, unfortunately. But--I don't know. That's a problem for another time. Hopefully Cade will be safe behind bars while I figure out what to do about that."

She stopped, staring at Korrin for a few moments with wide, unbelieving eyes. Then for what feels like the first time in ages, she breaks into a wide grin, laughing loudly at the story. "You're kidding me! No wonder he went off the deep edge, he obviously couldn't--" She paused, trying to think of the right words without sounding...lewd. "--Handle the magnificence." Did that sound weird. That was probably weird.

...right, Merrick. Korrin just shakes her head, knowing that she can't stop him either and not even really wanting to do so. Granted, she doesn't want to see him arrested or a feud begin, but that twitchy asshole brought it upon himself.

That laughter turns her mind from darker thoughts, at least for now, and Korrin grins smugly. "I know, right? I haven't seen him since, though I swear he's been in the tent when I haven't been around. I even heard from the scouts that he's been falling asleep on duty instead of just getting another tent. What an idiot."

"I don't really know what to do about Merrick. I know he won't leave Cade alone, even if I ask him to." Even if Beleth wanted him to. "But--If he kills Cade, then he'll get in a lot of trouble. And if I warn people to watch out for him, then he might get in a lot of trouble anyway, and not get the chance to even hit Cade a little." And in all fairness, if Merrick was going to get in trouble no matter what--Well, she didn't want Cade dead. But maybe he could have a lopsided nose, too.

"Oh, yeah. The first time I saw him in Emprise, he'd fallen asleep at his post." She paused, fidgeting with her scarf. "I, um. I kind of pushed him into the snow and ran before he realized what happened." She frowns at that, tilting her head. "...I was kind of a jerk to him, wasn't I...? I was just mad at him because he was always so dismissive in Skyhold. I don't think he even recognized me. But--" The frown deepens, fingers brushing against the bump on her nose. "--Even if it's my fault, I don't. Really think. That's good problem solving."

Realizing that her actions at the tent indirectly spurred this incident, Korrin winces. She wouldn't normally give a damn about accidentally flashing the twitchy idiot, but it's an uncomfortable position to be in. Even if he would have run off anyway, she hadn't exactly helped. So her tone when she responds is hardly judgmental, even though that wasn't likely anyway. Bias and all.

"Probably not, but I can't say I would have done any different in your shoes. The only reason I haven't trolled Templars is because of my responsibility to the Council to...well, not keep the peace, but not make it any worse. But I wouldn't lose any sleep over this, Beleth. He was a rude ass, and also a primed gaatlok barrel ready to go off. We don't need assholes like that running around loose, endangering everyone else."

With any luck, they'll leave him to rot in a cell and they won't have to waste any further thought on him. Merrick gets her to sigh, though. "If you stand no chance of getting through to Merrick, I sure as hell don't. I can only say that if it happens in my presence, I'll do my best to keep that trouble to a minimum. Much as Cade richly deserves a trashing."
