He doesn't deserve any of them, and the hasty look away is so that he can keep from tearing up. He wants to run. He could still do it, still make it, and the temptation is so strong... but he can't. Anders swallows and shakes his head.

"I can't." He has to clear his throat before continuing to talk. "I appreciate it, but I can't. When who I am comes out, if I'm gone, at best it simply destabilizes the balance of the mage council. I've already taken so many lives for us to get this far - it can't be for nothing. If I'm here, accepting what's to come, I can still help one more time."

This is definitely a mix of himself and Justice. If it was just him, he'd give in, go shop for peppermint, keep his head down for one more day. ...And then, considering his track record, probably return in a month and actually turn himself in, or worse, be captured and dragged back in that month. If it was just Justice... Actually, he's not sure what would be different if it was purely Justice, other than the fact he wouldn't have had the time to warn people.

"If you'd like my cat, mention her to Nate when he comes to you. I don't think he's that much of a cat person, and she'd... She'd probably like the sea." She'd be free in a way he's never had the chance for.
