A dillweed in a can, there's nothing lamer than

One of the ruined houses in Sahrnia had a perfectly good spinning wheel inside, its owners dead. None of the townsfolk wanted it, so Pel loaded it onto a cart.

Now, she's setting it up, and it's not only the spinning wheel that is new. She's wearing a brand new dress and a wide elven belt, something a great deal more feminine than she has ever worn before. The right side of her face is sporting a magnificent set of new bruises as well, the eye swollen half-shut and bloodshot. Several people have offered to heal her, but she wants people to see an elf capable of withstanding pain.

Later, she's put spinning aside and picked up her staff, going through some exercises she learned from Dorian's first class. She can still see an angry red templar cutting off her magic, then swinging a backhand blow at her face like he's punishing a naughty slave. Her depth perception is not great right now, and she occasionally has to pause to wait for double vision to become single vision again.

If you are also practicing at melee combat, she'll give a half-smile (the other half of her mouth hurts too much for that).

"Indeed, which is why I'm surprised you didn't follow up." He gives he leg a shove back, hoping to set her off balance, and goes for his staff.

He does set her off balance, and she stumbles backward, landing on one knee. She sweeps out blindly with her staff, hoping to hit his legs, but it's the desperate move of someone 99% beaten.

Well that certainly gets him in one leg and by the hiss of pain Sam makes it's clear that it hurts a bit - not the worst he's had in the ring. At that Sam drops down to his knee and brings his weight down in hopes of catching Pel's staff in the fold of his leg.

And he does that. But Pel quickly grabs the other end of her staff and yanks, trying to dislodge the foot and send Sam to the ground.

Already with one knee on the ground he doesn't go far when Pel manages to yank her staff back. Reaching out he grasps onto his own staff and turns on his knees in case of another attack.

Which is when she throws caution to the wind and bodily flings herself on him in a fierce tackle.

Well that was a bit more than surprising considering he hadn't thought Pel would do that. She doesn't quite have the weight to knock him fully to the ground, but it does make him lose balance and end up on his ass.

And out comes the knife she keeps at her side, point at Sam's throat.

"And the fight is mine," she growls.

At the press of metal he leans back, eyes looking down his nose at the dagger. "Alright, I yield," he pants lightly. Guess he shouldn't have worried about holding back some of his strength in some of his hits if she was going to go out on him like that.

Pel looks smug as she sheathes the knife. "And that's how it's done."

She's still sitting on him.

Sam stops holding his breath when the blade is no longer in his face, shoulders slouching as he leans back on his hands.

"Well... it's probably a good thing I didn't throw myself at you bodily."

"You wouldn't've done that."

[el_tybs]

"And look where it's landed me," he says with a lopsided grin, lifting a hand to motion to their current position. Pel had taken advantage that he wouldn't do anything that could seriously hurt anyone.
