What Can One Grey Warden Do?

WHO: Hercules, Jamie, Kain, Rachette, Alistair, Kaidan, Bethany, Dorian, Anders, and Nathaniel.
WHAT: The ambush and capture of Lord Livius Erimond
WHEN: Drakonis 4
WHERE: The Western Approach
NOTES: Info on this post. Feel free to start your own mingle threads for the journey there and back. Warning for violence.

It doesn't really rain here. The skies are blue and the sun is glaring, the sands shifting only when a merciful breeze blazes through, which isn't often. It's hardest on Team D, which has no shade or shelter. The other two teams are tucked away in the shadows, impossible to see as Erimond's party enters the gorge.

They had seen the demons from afar, Nathaniel peering through a spyglass. There are eight of them, each bound to a mage, and Nathaniel has chosen to continue with the plan, though he has urged everyone not to try to fight, only to push through with the plan as-is and get out. They are all very much outnumbered, but all they need to do is take one man.

So stay hydrated and move quickly, team. Anything can happen in the next few minutes.

[OOC: I will tag into each team thread as the action reaches each team. Feel free to mingle on team threads before then and react to the action in other threads. Also, please start your own threads for travel mingling, if you want that sort of thing. This will keep everything organized for everyone's AC purposes.]

"Not in the stew," comes the reply. From anyone else they might've sounded bright and chipper, but Herc can just sound quietly less-serious and sort-of-content, and it's the little hint of amusement when he glances towards Anders that gets the levity across.

"Never been much of a cat guy," Herc admits, though there's none of that dogs are better sentiment that might be anticipated. He may not be Anders number one fan, but Anders is a Warden, he took the oath, and at some point when you're on a mission together you've got to cut a guy some slack. It'd be nice to spend the trip bristling at the guy, but he wasn't the one Herc needed to direct his ire towards, right now. They needed to have each others backs. "Sure Max'd love a playmate, though. Cats are probably delicious - right, Max?"

Max makes a grumbly bark of distaste, and goes back to drooling all over his bone. The look Herc gives Anders is joined with a little shrug, good natured. "Guess he's not much of a cat guy, either."

"Probably lucky for him." It's offered with just as much subtle lightness as he thinks he's getting from Herc. The man's a little difficult to read, but at least it doesn't seem like Anders is currently bothering him. "The Hero of Purrelden is a highly trained fighter. She took down several enemies this morning."

He pauses for dramatic effect as he settles back onto his heels and pulls a much-used knife out of his boot to start peeling what vegetables have been found in their little trip thus far. They're sparse as it's winter, but he knows how to find them. Perks of apostasy.

"Granted, they were ants. But she's getting there. My last cat took down a genlock." Maybe not entirely on his own, but the claws in the genlock's eyes had made it easy for Anders to finish it off. It counts as Pounce's takedown.

"Does 'enemies' mean 'mice'? 'Cause I think they might be a little tougher than Max." The dog offers an injured whine in protest, but its half hearted, even if Herc just implied a kitten could take down Max.

He chuckles, when he finds out the truth of it. "Gutsy. I wouldn't mess with ants. Genlocks are small fry, next to those little bastards."
justice_is_blond: (Actually let's go with that idea)

"They're certainly more crafty, and know how to swarm. Genlocks have no idea what they're doing. They just stay in the way of weapons and can't dodge. I can't speak for your dog." It's another gentle, teasing prod. He can't risk the old approaches any more. Outright bluster, aggressive flirting, he needs to tone those down. But a little bit of joking is something he desperately needs for his own sake as well as to relate.

"Has Max taken anything on?"
