WHO: Josephine, Vivienne, OPEN
WHAT: Preparing the Inquisition for the Soiree
WHEN: 15 Guardian to 14 Drakonis (about a month's span before the event)

NOTES: * Josephine is the hostess of the shindig. Matters regarding invitations, guest lists, admittance, entertainment, food, or general complaints/suggestions should be directed to her.
* Vivienne has personally invited three tailors from Val Royeaux to assist with clothes making for the attendees. She is available to assist with design selections and/or advice on how to behave.
* YOU are open and invited to grab your nearest and dearest CR to complain about the party, ask for a date to he event, complain you have nothing to wear.
* Belinda Darrow has donated from her own private purse to the cost of clothing which people could otherwise not afford.

The Orlesian tailors arrived in great state, bringing with them a cadre of servants, workers, and snotty attitudes. They hate everything. It is cold in Skyhold. It is damp. Everything smells of wet dog. The working conditions are abysmal. The food is criminal. There's not a damned thing they don't complain about, except for the piles of coin they stand to make from this soiree. Yes, they are more than content to build a fortune with exclusive work that will be seen by some of the aristocracy's finest.

Harritt apparently doesn't much like them either. They've taken over his Undercroft with their fabrics and threads, designs and opinions. Oh they have opinions. He stays to one corner, attending his work, and grumbling under his breath about the poncy cheesesniffers.

Korrin raises an eyebrow at that, not having seen evidence of that in Orlais' latest fashions. But then, despite what those insufferably snobby tailors might think, the Empire of Orlais isn't the entire world. There are plenty of other countries to take into account, and as long as the style suits her, she's not going to care about its origins.

"Really? Any suggestions would be welcome, at this point. I don't want to rely on theirs alone."

"Well, even though long gowns are the fashion now, they can be adjusted so that you may move more freely. May I suggest perhaps utilising a split up one of the sides? Nothing so high to be scandalous, of course, but high enough that you might run, should the need arise." She frowns a little, then, because the soiree planning has been going so well that she fervently hopes that no such need should arise.

"Not that I imagine there will be any running." Perhaps she has not stretched her imagination enough. She also refrains from mentioning that it does not matter, truly, what Korrin wears in the end, because at the end of the day, the presence of a kossith at a predominantly Orlesian party will be scandal enough.

Privately, Josephine is looking forward to it.

A side slit...that's definitely worth considering. And that Josephine realizes that there might be need for running despite her best intentions is a point in her favor. "There won't be, if I can help it. I know how important that night will be to the Inquisition. Your hard work won't go to waste."

Then she looks mischievous and a bit wistful. "I'll refrain from something scandalously high, this time. Maybe later, though."

"There will always be another soiree," Josephine agrees, matching Korrin's wistfulness in her own smile. She hopes fervently that her words will hold true. While she believes fervently in the Inquisition's cause, it does not stop her from worrying, sometimes. Quite a lot of the time, in fact.

"I do appreciate the effort everyone is putting in to their presentation for the night, even if such events are not usually their area of expertise."

"Or not at all, ever. This would be the first time I've done something like this were I wasn't working security, and even that was very rare." Jobs involving nobles and their gatherings were the least enjoyable ones to Korrin, so she left them for those in the company with a higher tolerance for the Game. Fighting dragons or giants is so much easier, by comparison.

"I'm a little surprised Vivienne insisted on my attending. A 'savage qunari' seems more a liability than an asset at such affairs. But I won't be the one to bring this down, if I can help it."
theproperglove: (hope; with a role for me to play)

"Ah, so she spoke with you personally regarding your attendance, did she? I can see why she would want you there. Madame de Fer is not the type of woman to let race or magic get in the way of political gain." She stops herself short before she says anything further. She has her own opinions of Vivienne, certainly, but as another player of the Game, Josephine decides to keep her thoughts to herself.

Especially when talking to someone like Korrin, who has little interest in politicking.
