WHAT: Josephine and Vivienne have orchestrated a good-will soiree in response to this dastardly rumor.

NOTES:
- A list of nobles in attendance can be found here. The list was provided by the mods but there will be no npc support for them. Play away.
- A secondary outside party is being held in the valley in the tent town for anyone who couldn't/wouldn't attend and/or behave in the fancy pansty party.
- The goal of the evening is to clear up a spurious rumor about Cassandra and Leliana, with secondary goals of establishing the Inquisition as a respectable presence in Thedas (and fish for more money). Any major disruptions that would Game Over the court approval should probably be brought to the advisors and/or mods.

To say that Josphine has far outdone herself with this little soiree would be the understatement of the year. The Lady Ambassador has pulled out all the stops in providing a festive and yet elegant stage for this political intervention. Because sometimes gossip can be more deadly than a sword.

The Great Hall of Skyhold has been converted into a grand receiving hall, glittering with hundreds of lights around the room, in addition to the repairs accomplished to the original chandeliers. Of course, there has been artful placement arranged so there are a few shadowy corners for rendezvous of the more suggestive nature. Just in case. The majority of the floor has been cleared for dancing, and a fine troupe of musicians have been installed for the bulk of the evening's entertainments. Some members of the Inquisition have plans to entice attendees with their own artistic performances in addition to the group of mages performing illusory tricks to oohs and aahs.

For those who feel their energy flagging, there are chairs set against the walls, with a few tables interspersed between. Servers hired for the evening circulate the crowds with wine, fine Orlesian and Nevarran reds as well as crisp whites from Antiva. Refreshments are set out on buffet tables, tasteful and extravagant nibbles, including imported cheeses, spicy saucisson, dried fruits and nuts, and the highly sought after deep mushroom and anise petits fours that are all the rage in Orlais.

"You are cutting a very fine figure yourself, Sam." He flicks his cape back over his shoulder with a gesture, lifting his glass of wine to offer Sam a quick salute. "Ah, assassin puns. Will they ever get old?"

The bit of flare is impressive, only making the mage grin at the bit of show. Clearly someone was showing off - he might be a little jealous that he doesn't have such an awe inspiring cape of his own, Zevran, how dare. "As long as I can think of them... no, not really." He chuckles lightly, head canting down a bit to look down at his own outfit.

"Well at least someone approves. I think the tailors wanted more billowy sleeves and frills." His grin goes a bit lopsided at the idea.

"The tailors were Orlesian and thus judge everything by an Orlesian standard. Which-" He gestures with his glass to the finery about them. Overwrought, dripping in lace or gold stitching, bright and curved and overly complicated. "Is a bit much when there is the one. Gather enough of them together and it does make the eye swim."

While Fereldan fashion has little to speak for it- Sam cleans up well. "This suits you. Sleek, stylish, and it shows of your broad shoulders nicely."

"And just think, we invited the whole lot of them here so that we could witness such a thing. I was honestly fine without seeing all the masks and over-the-top Orlesian fashion." Granted there were some that looked good, but for the most part there was a bit too much lace, gold, and overly complicated designs.

The comment about broad shoulders has him smiling wider, heading ducking for a moment to look at his feet before looking back up at Zevran. "My shoulders, huh?"

"We invited them for their money- the one good thing is the fancier the clothing and the more elaborate the mask? The more coin they have to spare for the Inquisition." It makes picking his targets for schmoozing or gossip a great deal simpler.

"Mhmm. Your shoulders, your waist, likely your backside as well if the tittering of the ladies is any indication."

"I suppose you're right about that." Leave it to Zevran to know about those little details. In the future he'll keep that in mind, but it wasn't like he came into this knowing just that.

Well for sure he knows Zevran has been checking out his shoulders and waist now, but at the comment about his rear, Sam finds himself blushing slightly. Of course he has to turn a bit to look behind him to see if Zevran is talking about ladies behind him right at that moment. Ah.

"Well I suppose that will explain a bit why I keep hearing that noise, especially when someone asks me to pick up something for them."

"...you honestly have never heard that one before?" Zevran crackles a laugh, warm and easy. "That- Sam every Antivan knows that trick by the time they are five! Most do not know the why of it, but they know the trick. I suppose you have been picking up handkerchiefs or other baubles all night for said ladies- and likely a few gentlemen as well?"

There's a moment of silence, biting his lip a bit, as he considers the question, thinking back to previous times of the night. "... I guess I have." Despite feeling embarrassed about that he does smile as he listens to Zevran laugh - it was rather amusing now that he knew about it. "Well, it's not like I encountered that much in the Circle or here in Skyhold," he defends humorously, but then a pause. "I think."

"If anyone had a habit of asking you to fetch something for them, be it high or low- that is likely what they were after." Shaking his head he dabs at his eyes, surprised but not overly so. Sam had lived in a circle after all. Such things may have been more rare. "Well...know you know it for what it is, yes?"

"And that would have nothing to do with the fact that I'm tall?" Course he's had to fetch things for people when it was too high out of reach. That was just because he was tall right? Well that certainly gave him a lot to think about and wonder didn't it? Though now he supposed that all those comments about rears from Araceli wasn't just a one off thing. Huh.

"Right. Now I'm not going to be able to bend over or reach up for anything without this going through my head." At least Zevran was amused.

"I would apologize- but the idea of you blushing every time you remember is far too amusing to make me regret saying as much." Sam does blush quite nicely, this is true. It adds to his boyish charms.

"Ah huh. So if I didn't blush you would have regretted mentioning my backside at all?" He can't see it, so he had no idea it was something worthy of mention. Would have never known either. Course unless someone else who enjoyed seeing him blush brought it up.

"I am not much one for regrets- so I wouldn't." Such is Zevran. "But the blushing is fine incentive to tease, you must admit."

Sam gives a sigh at that. "I really cannot argue against that." Not with him having done as such himself to others when it happened. "Apparently an incentive that I show most often. Maybe I should work on that." Course how one works on that is a good question.
