WHAT: Josephine and Vivienne have orchestrated a good-will soiree in response to this dastardly rumor.

NOTES:
- A list of nobles in attendance can be found here. The list was provided by the mods but there will be no npc support for them. Play away.
- A secondary outside party is being held in the valley in the tent town for anyone who couldn't/wouldn't attend and/or behave in the fancy pansty party.
- The goal of the evening is to clear up a spurious rumor about Cassandra and Leliana, with secondary goals of establishing the Inquisition as a respectable presence in Thedas (and fish for more money). Any major disruptions that would Game Over the court approval should probably be brought to the advisors and/or mods.

To say that Josphine has far outdone herself with this little soiree would be the understatement of the year. The Lady Ambassador has pulled out all the stops in providing a festive and yet elegant stage for this political intervention. Because sometimes gossip can be more deadly than a sword.

The Great Hall of Skyhold has been converted into a grand receiving hall, glittering with hundreds of lights around the room, in addition to the repairs accomplished to the original chandeliers. Of course, there has been artful placement arranged so there are a few shadowy corners for rendezvous of the more suggestive nature. Just in case. The majority of the floor has been cleared for dancing, and a fine troupe of musicians have been installed for the bulk of the evening's entertainments. Some members of the Inquisition have plans to entice attendees with their own artistic performances in addition to the group of mages performing illusory tricks to oohs and aahs.

For those who feel their energy flagging, there are chairs set against the walls, with a few tables interspersed between. Servers hired for the evening circulate the crowds with wine, fine Orlesian and Nevarran reds as well as crisp whites from Antiva. Refreshments are set out on buffet tables, tasteful and extravagant nibbles, including imported cheeses, spicy saucisson, dried fruits and nuts, and the highly sought after deep mushroom and anise petits fours that are all the rage in Orlais.

Alright, he can understand someone being excited about food, but this guy is seriously excited about food. He doesn't even say 'look at all the food', it's simply 'look at the food. Sam's pretty sure that even if he wasn't at the table himself picking at things to eat he probably would've heard the shout from the other side of the room.

Course that wasn't the only thing that had Church - he's pretty sure the guy's name is Church, that's what Christine had said - standing out. The shades of green are certainly eye catching. Sam raises a brow as he chews on a piece of fruit, contemplating a few things before he walks up closer.

"So you're Church?"

Um, excuse you, because this is a lot of strange and tasty looking food instead of, oh boy, roast bird again, or like, hey, oatmeal and some carrots, nummy! Not to mention he's definitely willing to try anything once since he's discovered the joys of eating. And eating good food.

None of which is here or there because hi, guy. "That'd be me. Didn't realize my reputation preceded me already. I must be starting to get popular around here."

He's pretty sure there is a roasted bird somewhere, probably on the other side of the rack of lamb. Course feel free to try anything once, though he'd caution against the anise petits fours, unless you were into that kind of stuff - kind of left a smell on the breath though so wouldn't suggest it.

What reputation? "Actually I saw you come in with Christine and I asked her what your name was."

"Oh. Well that's kind of boring but way more plausible. Sup. Apparently I'm arm candy tonight." Yeah man because he's so great and handsome. Obviously.

Well how he talks is certainly interesting. "Arm candy, huh?" He doesn't hear many people use such a phrase. "Aren't you only arm candy if you're on an arm? Name's Samouel, by the way."

"I'm figuratively on her arm, so arm candy. I mean, if I was the important one here who invited her, she'd be my arm candy, cuz damn." He offers a non-sharded hand to shake. "Friend of Christine's then?"

"I am. We also work together." He smiles some and offers up his own hand, giving Church's a firm shake. "So are you enjoying yourself? I can see you like the spread they've prepared."

"Hey, you can't go wrong with food. At least, I mean, you maybe could, but food in general is awesome. So, she's a magic doctor, does that make you her nurse?"

Actually there were a number of things that could go wrong with food, but he can certainly agree that in general it is awesome. Or he would if it weren't for the question.

"How do you figure that I'm her nurse?" He's curious to how that came to mind so he's not going to correct him just yet.

"Cuz...you work with her...and she's a magical doctor healer?" Duh, that clearly means nurse.

"She isn't the only 'magical doctor healer'," he points out, reaching over and grabbing a piece of bread and munching on it a moment later. Alright, this was amusing.

"So, what, are you also a doc, or are you just trying to be annoying and vague? Cuz you're doing a great job on the latter."

"Just amused that that's the first thing that came to your mind," he admits, finishing off the bread. "I'm a healer as well, yes. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Christine has mentioned me as the 'annoying Ferelden one'."

"I don't think you've come up." Ouch. But it's honest. But also even if she had brought him up, would Church actually remember? "So. Fellow doctor, not nurse. Are you all magical too?"

"I don't suppose I would have unless you've talked to Christine excessively about healers. I'm one of the Spirit Healers here." Finishing off his bread Sam raises a brow. "So yes, I'm all magical too."

"Oh! Spirit healer, like...Adelaide, yeah? Starting to seem inevitable that I meet all the magical doctors around here at this point. I swear I'm not trying to make a harem."

"Yes, like Adelaide. Different spirit though."

It didn't seem too weird that someone could and would meet all the healers in Skyhold, you only needed to visit the tents often enough - hopefully not actually injured. Course Church's words have Sam raising a brow and looking at the man a bit oddly.

He heard that right, right? Harem? That hadn't even come to mind, but clearly it had in Church's - he can see what Christine meant about not having a filter.

"Ah huh. Should I take that as you being someone who hurts themselves a whole lot and would need that many healers or as something else?"

"Nah, I just like bothering them. That and I got this thing." He holds up his sharded hand. "Comes and goes, the throbbing pain, so then I like to bother them to ease my poor aching hand and get attention from the pretty ladies." Hey, he can be honest sometimes.

"Ah, well, I guess that explains why I haven't seen you around." Sam is certainly not a 'pretty lady' so obviously Church would not have come to him for healing. "Perhaps do not bother them too much. It's never wise to overly bother the ones that are supposed to fix you."
