WHAT: Eluvian extraction; Morrigan's eluvian has fallen into the hands of the Venatori and their Red Templar accomplices, so it's a mad dash to the Hinterlands to meet Leliana's forward scouts to fight the Venatori and provide cover for Morrigan and her team to secure the eluvian

Skyhold is rarely peaceful or quiet, not in any meaningful way but like pristine glass, tis shattered in the early hours. Morrigan can be seen heading from her rooms towards the back of Skyhold before she is suddenly gone, a few of the more loose-lipped scouts gossiping about how the Witch of the Wilds strode from the rookery later, not angry. Worried.
No argument either with the Nightingale.
Perhaps some had already been informed that she might need assistance. Others might have stopped her on her journey to ask what has someone with her reputation in such a flap.
The answer is the same: something of great value has fallen into the hands of the enemy, assistance and swift action are required to ensure it never falls into the clutches of Corypheus.

( sorry scientists everywhere, sorry so so much )

[ Merrill is possibly going to vibrate right out of her seat based on sheer excitement ]
Oh, how wonderful! What's it like?
no subject
( She grins, because MERRILL IS SO ADORABLE SEND HELP RIGHT NOW )
Quiet, I think. Hard to breathe. Oh, there's no gravity! Or, um, really little gravity, I guess. So you jump and just sort of keep going up for a while.

Were there any animals or plants there? New kinds, or familiar ones?

Frolicking?
( okay, she didn't mean to say that out loud, but that is so amazing. ) I don't know many people who frolic, actually. It seems like you'd need to have a lot of energy.
( why is talking to Merrill literally the most amazing thing??? bless her cotton socks )
Not really an environment for plants or animals. It's just a big cold rock. I think maybe some water? Frozen water, I mean. So.... ice. And rocks.
( wow she's not eloquent right now and also wishing she'd read more about space, damn it ) It's kind of empty. Lonely, I think.

Really? Hm...
[ A look up into the sky, at the two moons of Thedas, and Merrill hums slightly. ]
I wonder if anyone will ever get to our moons. I hope people keep going to yours, to make it less lonely.

frolicking
of course there's the flipside where Ruby is really sure that face tattoos must hurt and that it is exceptional hardcore back in the world with no magic and yet... here Merrill is, with her hardcore face tattoos, talking about frolicking. )
Maybe. But we've only got the one moon, back home. Maybe your moons aren't lonely because there's two of them. They can keep each other company.
no subject
Oh! That's very true -- I hope that's the case.
[ She looks back up, smiling a bit at the sky. How nice for the moons. ]
Though I do hope there aren't any giant spiders on them.

Everyone should have friends, ( Ruby agrees, looking up. This is a weird conversation, but she's enjoying it. It's a good weird. )
We can see if there's any experts back at Skyhold who can find out - solve the mystery of the giant moon spiders, huh?
no subject
That would be fantastic! I doubt anyone really knows if there are any, but they'd definitely be interested in knowing about the fact that people have been to the moon in your world, if nothing else.
[ Good weird is Merrill's preferred state of being, really. Blame Hawke for embracing it. ]

Maybe if they have a really really strong telescope.
( Are telescopes a thing, here? )
no subject
A- what?
[ If they are, Merrill has never heard of them. ]
no subject
Oh. Um. Sort of... they're like tubes? with different sized pieces of glass and they kind of magnify and help you see a long long way? Something like that, anyway. I really should... have read more science books.
( Ruby stares at the sky with a faint sort of accusation, as if it is the STARS fault for this gross shortcoming of hers. )

[ Don't be too hard on yourself Ruby. You can't have known you were going to end up in Thedas. ]
