Advisors

He brought the Rifters to the castle, but spent little time getting them acquainted, other than introducing them to a few of the scouts, who then were told to show them around the castle and find out who they were supposed to report to.

Solas had his own reports to make. And his own questions.

So when he burst into the War Room, mid-meeting, he was already starting on them before anyone had the chance to question him.

"Exactly how many shard bearers does the Inquisition have? I have just brought four with me, and I have heard rumours of the others, but--"


Inner Circle/Previous CR

He also made careful note to visit the others of the Inner Circle, whether or not he was personally fond of him. He needed to be brought fully up to date with the workings of the Inquisition, and the Herald's original Inner Circle were the best way to ascertain that.

So he sought each out, wherever they could be found, and offered a greeting. Some more formal than others.

"Wondering at that. With all this glowy tits showing up, figured you'd have been too busy with hand jobs here for napping."

So proud of herself that she giggles as she finally pushes off the end of the scaffolding and lands, near silently, on the ground.

"But heard you'd you run off."

He didn't miss the innuendo, but he didn't even bother to sigh at it. It was too obvious to be worth mentioning.

"Yes, well, when the woman you are charged with keeping alive dies, and you find yourself in a body made up of angry, grief-stricken humans who need someone to blame, it doesn't always seem wise to stick around, no. I had thought any help I could have offered was useless. It appears I was wrong."

Solas admitting he was wrong. He'd clearly fallen off a rock out there and hit his bald head. Sera approves +50.

"You're helping...so it really is all Fade and demon shit, right? The shards and all that."

He wasn't often wrong, but admitting it in this case was far easier than actually explaining what he had really been up to.

"Eloquent as always, but the answer is: yes, and no. I am, of this moment, almost completely convinced that it has nothing to do with demons. As for the Fade - even that, I am not sure. I have a theory, but I have yet to be able to test it, or, even, formulate it as concisely as I would wish. I think in this case it is less intentional magic than it is - luck."

"Figured Fade is magic, innit?"

The chair is wobbly, so Sera sits her butt down on the edge of Solas' desk, trying to puzzle out if there's something he'd found she can actually arrow back into oblivion and make the world better.

"And some shit luck, this."

"In a manner of speaking."

There was almost a sigh in his voice, but he kept it in.

"Quite. Not as terrible as you might think, however. I had thought the Anchor lost to us, and with it, our hope of defeating Corypheus and closing the breach. It is... not ideal, to have the Anchor in shards, in this form. But it is better than what we possibly could have hoped for, in the situation."

"Right. Shards maybe good, if the people stuck with them ain't shit. So like most any kinda power. Sure you weren't just off with your girlfriend these past months?"

Not much he really learned, so far she can tell. Except people were people...which for Solas might really have taken some time.

He let out a breath. Not quite a sigh, but close enough. Girlfriend indeed. He could have been annoyed, perhaps, but the truth was... she had hit the nail on the head. The last few months had been frustrating beyond belief.

"I had hoped I might find another way of closing the rifts, without the anchor," he admitted. "I believed the Anchor to be elven - after seeing the orb Corypheus carried in Haven - and went to see if I could find any records of it, or perhaps even discover the magic that created it, in the first place. But while I found some references, there was nothing that led me to believe I could recreate the Anchor. Not without the Orb that Corypheus carries."

"Thought he was a 'Vint."

Literally everything after 'elven' and Cory-face was a dull buzz in her ear. The snobbiest elf ever- yeah, one that even thought the Dalish tits weren't elf enough- thought elves had made the greatest power. She didn't have the eye muscles to roll them hard enough. Sera may have to ask Cass for training on that one.
