Try something new, they said...

WHO: Fenris and you
WHAT: Someone wants to better himself. Or something.
WHEN: Early Cloudreach
WHERE: Around Skyhold. Isolated corners. The tavern (there's a surprise)
NOTES: Probably a warning from swearing in Tevene. It's Fenris.

He tried looking at it every which way he could, but it made no sense. Well. It made sense to someone, he was sure, but not him. The book that was in front of him was being studiously ignored to make way for something more useful - alcohol.

He was feeling the lack of being able to read. He knew that as many could read as couldn't, but all of his friends round about could - and when he was out in the field, it would be useful to be able to read slaver's ledgers to be able to find out just where they had been - and where they were going next. But how did you even go about that.

Preposterous. He shouldn't even have thought of it. With a sigh he finished his drink and stood up, looking around, and thought about leaving the book behind, but tucking it under his arm. Maybe he would ask Zevran to help him.

Still. He was mellow as he walked through Skyhold at least. Alcohol had a tendency to do that to you.

Of course the elf attacks physically, without thought. Anders isn't surprised he takes the low road; when has he ever done otherwise? He throws up a barrier and calls on Justice's abilities, attempting to toss down a paralysis glyph at the elf's feet, anything to buy him time to get away because if the elf gets in reach Anders is dead.

He really should have just set Fenris on fire at first sight. As it is, he's dropping the temperature deliberately. Bare feet can't be good on ice.

At least that had worked, and Anders darts to put a convenient barrel between them. ...Which, he realizes on second thought, doesn't work against elves who can move through things. Right. Back to backing up and hoping to dart out of the way or more ice or something.

"Saving lives, as I've saved more than I've taken, unlike some!" It's a cheap shot, but Fenris started it by charging.

Anders can blame Fenris for anything he does. After all, Fenris blames Anders even for things he's never done. It feels fair.

He throws up a barrier and a rock wall, both meant to protect him and slow the elf down, as he keeps moving.

"I give you five more seconds to stop this attack before I fight back, and I will not hold back." The warning seems fair, and no one would be surprised to hear that Fenris simply attacked him.

Fenris had attacked... and now he's standing there? Apparently the elf has a small bit of brain power. The fact that Anders hasn't had his heart out of his chest is a win in the end, and while a small part of him wants to poke and prod and get under the elf's skin, he knows it's not smart.

"I hope that's out of your system now." It isn't. It can't be. The elf doesn't have that much control. But he can say it anyway, and move to walk away. He's alive. He'll continue to be alive and count that as yet another win.

"A great many things, actually, and far more than you." It's calm... and a little smug. "They were thinking about their validity, and who would respect their authority if they didn't respect Hawke's. They were thinking about the fact that I am a Grey Warden and once claimed again by them the Inquisition had no authority there either. They were thinking of sparing themselves the headache that would come from rendering a verdict. And so on, and so forth. Really, this should be obvious even to you."
