Try something new, they said...

WHO: Fenris and you
WHAT: Someone wants to better himself. Or something.
WHEN: Early Cloudreach
WHERE: Around Skyhold. Isolated corners. The tavern (there's a surprise)
NOTES: Probably a warning from swearing in Tevene. It's Fenris.

He tried looking at it every which way he could, but it made no sense. Well. It made sense to someone, he was sure, but not him. The book that was in front of him was being studiously ignored to make way for something more useful - alcohol.

He was feeling the lack of being able to read. He knew that as many could read as couldn't, but all of his friends round about could - and when he was out in the field, it would be useful to be able to read slaver's ledgers to be able to find out just where they had been - and where they were going next. But how did you even go about that.

Preposterous. He shouldn't even have thought of it. With a sigh he finished his drink and stood up, looking around, and thought about leaving the book behind, but tucking it under his arm. Maybe he would ask Zevran to help him.

Still. He was mellow as he walked through Skyhold at least. Alcohol had a tendency to do that to you.

"Oh, thank God," she murmured lowly, exhaling a hard breath.

Things were bad enough about the castle at it was, the last thing anyone needed was her, a rifter, causing an incident by maiming someone - even accidentally.

She looked away, fingers sliding up the grip of her other axe, the sharpened teeth of the blade biting into the stone face. Her toes inched along the ledge, off into the nothing beyond... and she let herself drop, axe slowing her fall to a slide, knees bending on impact to catch her weight gracefully.

"Climbing." She told him as she turned back, retracting her axe. "Or trying to."

Returning one axe to the belt at her waist, she went for the one she'd lost.

"This stone has seen a lot of time; it doesn't always hold the way I'd hoped it might."

"Practice?" Lara replied with a bemused quirk of her eyebrows. "...And, I suppose I find it relaxing."

She slipped the loop on the end of her axe back onto her belt and turned back to him.

"Some people might for a walk, I go climbing."

"Well it's not tea and cookies," she allowed with a soft, gentle laugh, ponytail bobbing lightly. "But I enjoy it."

She looked up the wall, head tipping back as her eyes lifted the entire way.

"It's challenging, and satisfying in a very - simple sort of way."

Something she could still look at, and know how to achieve. Something she still understood.

"It's a hobby." She shrugged her shoulders and folded her arms neatly, looking back at the elf. "Do you not do things for fun? Simply because you enjoy them?"

Her lips parted, drawing a small, quick breath. Her eyebrows veed slightly. She almost spoke. ...But then she exhaled, mouth pursing lightly as her head bobbed and her dark ponytail waved.

"Touché."

She'd read enough to understand that Thedas still had an active system of slavery, and she'd committed her own fair share of murder. Just because she wouldn't have called it a hobby, didn't give her any rate to judge him doing so.

After a beat, she unfolded her arms enough to extend a hand to him.

"Lara."

"Like the wolf?" Lara asked, unable to help herself, as they shook and parted again.

So many myths and legends from home she'd found already translated in Thedas, she was always curious to see if there were more.

"Fenrir?"

She noticed the look, and couldn't help a small one of her in return at the mention of his 'former master,' but she bit her tongue before apologizing. Somehow, she though that might just earn her a uglier one.

"...It does where I'm from too," she said instead, after a moment's pause. "Well, not 'little.' Fenrir was actually said to be a giant wolf, big enough that he was foretold to swallow the god Odin whole, and help bring about Ragnarök, and the end of the world."

"So I've noticed," she agreed with a small nod and tip of her head, her brows tensing slightly with consideration. "A lot more than I would have imagined. Darkspawn, archdemons, Fenrir...."

She trailed off, shrugged her shoulders.

"It's not exact, but there's enough to make one wonder." Her expression melted into a small, bemused smile. "We're more like, second cousins, than complete strangers."
