Try something new, they said...

WHO: Fenris and you
WHAT: Someone wants to better himself. Or something.
WHEN: Early Cloudreach
WHERE: Around Skyhold. Isolated corners. The tavern (there's a surprise)
NOTES: Probably a warning from swearing in Tevene. It's Fenris.

He tried looking at it every which way he could, but it made no sense. Well. It made sense to someone, he was sure, but not him. The book that was in front of him was being studiously ignored to make way for something more useful - alcohol.

He was feeling the lack of being able to read. He knew that as many could read as couldn't, but all of his friends round about could - and when he was out in the field, it would be useful to be able to read slaver's ledgers to be able to find out just where they had been - and where they were going next. But how did you even go about that.

Preposterous. He shouldn't even have thought of it. With a sigh he finished his drink and stood up, looking around, and thought about leaving the book behind, but tucking it under his arm. Maybe he would ask Zevran to help him.

Still. He was mellow as he walked through Skyhold at least. Alcohol had a tendency to do that to you.

"Yes, I honestly do. I don't know if he is capable of caring for the people who have done him nothing but harm - " namely, the Templars, "But I know he regrets those innocent lives lost. And furthermore ... I don't think Anders was in control then."

She folded her arms over her chest. "I think it was Justice -- and further more I believe Justice needs to be forcibly removed from Anders. That's why I have these books -- so we can be safe from that ... that thing."

"No, but that is why Anders is tasked to save as many lives as possible. He has to atone, I will not argue that, but dead is dead, Fenris, and nothing more." Of that, Bethany knew to be true.

"That changed the moment the Kirkwall Chantry blew apart above our heads, and the city was plunged into chaos." She shook her head. "Whatever that thing is now, it's no longer a helpful spirit guide. It's an abomination that needs to be separated from Anders."

There wasn't going to be a disaster, Maker Be Damned. If Bethany had to crawl into the Fade herself and take a beating to prove it, she would.

She nodded her head firmly, before going to gather her books and her wits. "Good. Then ... if you can't accept my apology, if you can't forgive me, trust that I will do what needs to be done. Whatever the situation."

"Fine." She nodded, once, before she stepped aside to let him pass. She couldn't make him change his mind, or forgive her, after all. It was foolish to try.

That didn't mean she didn't look at his back longingly for a moment, before sighing and heading off towards the library once more.
