We of the Dairsmuid Circle wait now, behind barricades. I have sent word to our brother and sister mages of this outrage. When they break through, we will not die alone.

"Not in the Qun, they don't. Families don't exist, it's all about the roles you're given. Pretty fucked up, huh?" Yeah, Korrin will have enough judgment for the both of them. She'd never have someone thinking that prison of a life represents all her kind.

And mention of stories gets an eyeroll from Korrin. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure I know which ones she'll start with, but I won't ruin that for her. She put up with me when I was young, she's allowed."

"As in a role is decided for you when you're born and you have to live in that role? You can't move out of it - change careers?" he asked, not sure precisely what she meant, though it did sound rather restrictive. It would have to be for her to be so upset by it, wouldn't it?

He grinned wider at the mention of stories though. "Oh, she is already my new favorite person. When are we going to see her again?"

"After the mission is over, so she'll have time to rather enough food to feed an army. That's the only way she does dinner parties, you know." Korrin grins, not having any culinary talent to speak of but more than happen to expose her friends to it via Tama.

"And nah, it's not when you're born. I think she said they basically observe you throughout childhood and assign you stuff when you're twelve? But no, you can't change your role. The Qun doesn't allow for that kind of freedom...or any, really. That's why she got the fuck out. That's why my parents left."

"So far I am not hearing anything to dissuade me from going to see your grandmother," Kirk told her, and he thought for a moment that his stomach growled at the notion of homemade, grandmotherly food. It had to be better than anything they were getting back at Skyhold, or had gotten on the trip over.

"Oh, that seems... well, terrible - to me anyways. I can't imagine not be able to choose what I want to do," he shook his head. "Does it have something to do with believing your destiny is pre-ordained?" He was curious to the system, forgetting, for a moment, Korrin's dislike of it. But it was just so odd, he couldn't stop the questions pouring out.

Korrin fidgets, shrugging. "I don't think they believe in or care about destiny, exactly? It's more like they watch to see what you'd be suitable for and then adhere to the wishes of...whoever decides for you. I can't say more than that, it's not like I've ever been anywhere near Qun-held lands. I don't dare, not even for that one Qunari settlement in Rivain."

Turning to an easier subject, Korrin smiles. "I thought as much. Just bring your appetite and be prepared to sprawl out on the floor by the end of it. I know I'm not going anywhere for a while afterward."

He could sense her discomfort and knew he had pressed as far as he should on it. He was curious, but Korrin had an obvious dislike of the subject, so it was better not to ask for more than she was willing to give at any one point.

"Again, you're not dissuading me at all from going to your grandmother's and potentially taking up permanent residence," he laughed.

Relaxing a little as they move away from the subject of the Qun, Korrin smirks over at him. "Good. Be sure to bring your appetite, and prepare to be best friends with the floor afterward. Food comas are the usual result. She lives in an overwater bungalow, so I suspect she partly does that so drunk people don't stagger off into the water and drown. But the heart of it is that she just likes feeding people."

"She's not afraid of us accidentally rolling into the water? Because that sounds about how big I'll be - able to be rolled like a ball," he shook his head and looked down at his tunic, plucking at the cloth. "This is my good traveling shirt, I need to be able to fit in it for awhile longer."

Grinning, Korrin waggles her eyebrows. "Why? Rivain is nice and warm, you can afford to go shirtless. And don't worry, I'll save your sorry ass from rolling into the water, if I can. It takes a lot more to render me immobile, though I fully intend on it happening."
