We of the Dairsmuid Circle wait now, behind barricades. I have sent word to our brother and sister mages of this outrage. When they break through, we will not die alone.

I will be the first to say I wouldn't snub a care package. That's assuming we don't sink the boat on the way back.
[ He patted his fully belly, wondering if his uniform would fit just a bit tighter after this. ]
Your grandmother's fine with me sleeping right where I am right? Moving isn't going to be an option for awhile.

I think that was her plan all along. Overfed us, then put us into a food coma with plenty of floor-pillow. Ingenious.

I will accept thanks for Burly, Kalla and Raas, and the improved food in the form of hair oil. [Look this much hair is expensive to maintain.]
The first night I stayed here I was supposed to tell her everything, because well, a girl shows up after sending letters wearing half a dragon's tooth and her abuela has a right to ask. I woke up with a blanket over me in the middle of the night, head on the table. She's probably expecting us to just collapse in a heap.
[See: things she would have told Korrin sooner if things hadn't been dire.]

Luck's the usual excuse.
Makes a body wonder what his luck was like before. ]

What, giving up on Asher so soon? And here I heard that his grandfather was still hoping it'd happen.
Though I think for you, Tama might be persuaded to give it to you without any marrying involved. She likes the respectful and the hungry, and you've been both.

[ Not that it makes him joke any less. But still- red curry.
Glorious red curry. ]
Good, I can make it for him when we get back, yeah?

[ It's almost spoken into the nearest bowl. What a- novelty.
Metal on bone makes him look over, a little more alert- but whatever sort of ring it is, it's no rune of his, and he settles back down. ]
I imagine there would be another duel, should you try to marry Korrin. [ And his money is on Araceli. ]

Please don't marry anyone that smells like a bog.
[Araceli is armpit height. It's a mess. She does not enjoy his pelt deliveries. Sitting back down, she beams at The Outsider in a way that's absolutely alarming but ladies like duels, that's a universal truth.] I would arrange a very lavish funeral for you, Mal, with plenty of fine food.

There is also a lazy flick of his hand, when he leans back; magic pushes a few more bowls away from where Kas is sleeping, though he's careful not to let any topple down. See, he's helping. ]
Eat enough curry and anyone may smell like it instead of bog.

[So much for not laughing, she can't help it at the prospect of a duel...and then winces suddenly, because ow. Her side doesn't like that.]
Ugh, I hate you all. Can't you tell I'm immobile?
[She does smile warmly at Araceli and the Outsider aiding Kas, though. The poor kid deserves his bout of good food and rest before ship travel makes him miserable again.]
How about it, Mal? Are you going to duel for my hand? [Cue eyebrow-wiggling.]
no subject
Oh, I know the contest.
[ He held up his hand, like a boy in school. ]
Whomever can stay awake the longest after eating at your grandmother's wins. No one dies, and the loser gets the consolation of a delicious meal.
