We of the Dairsmuid Circle wait now, behind barricades. I have sent word to our brother and sister mages of this outrage. When they break through, we will not die alone.

In centuries past, those who lived in his world would carve charms out of bone and ivory dedicated to him. They would offer up words and songs and prayers, sacrifices and offerings. Even then, they rarely touched him. But Araceli does not seem him as a deity either, and perhaps that is where the difference lies.

His thumb, oddly calloused despite a life seemingly lacking of hard work, rubs slightly against her hand.

"It does. Even beyond seeing the waves -- the sounds, the smell." The reminder that the sea is far more than it appears, a world of its own, untameable. "I can- try. If that is the case, perhaps I will frighten them less than I unnerve others. Of course, I still have this shard in my hand." But so does Araceli, and they like her just fine.
