After the emotional trek to Asher's home and back, Kirk found that he was rather glad to be back within the walls of Skyhold. It was familiar and comforting and he knew what he could do here to keep his mind off things. To keep his mind off the passing of a friend that could have been, keep his mind off injustices in Orelais, keep his mind off his own situation. Funny, how death brought those things to surface with startling clarity.

He can be found in the early mornings running around Skyhold's perimeter, followed quickly by moving to working on his horsemanship at the barn (which in variably also means that he will spend some quality time around the bog unicorn, which in his mind he has unofficially adopted). More often than not he is also accompanied by a small black and white cat who has something suspiciously like a mustache on its upper lip. Don't tell Anders.

From there things are a bit more difficult when it came to finding ways to fill his time, except on the days when he was teaching lessons in math, science, and hand-to-hand self-defense. That latter of which he can now join in on since he has fully recovered from his previous injuries. It meant that more people were hitting the dirt, but that's how it was supposed to be. You didn't learn if you didn't come out with a bruise or two.

Of course he usually finds his way around to the library, usually in search of another story to read since he's not much of one for the historical texts anymore, biased as they tend to be in his view. Maybe he's napping. What? It's comfortable there. But why just ready about places in the library when he can out and explore in the woods outside Skyhold? Granted, he never goes far, but it's something and for just a bit he can pretend he's Captain Kirk exploring a new and exciting planet again. Let the Rifter have his tiny fantasy. (Invariably, Leonard the Cat tends to join him on this too, complete with fashioned harness and leash to keep him from wandering to far.)

And if all else fails he makes his way to the tavern, where he can easily be convinced to share a drink, sing a song, or maybe turn the tables and convince you to play some chess.

"No, no you didn't overstep. I'm just not used to being asked for advice on these sorts of things," he chuckled. "I'm known as a charmer in my own world, but not a - well, not the gift giving sort, shall we say?"

He gave a slight rise and fall of his shoulders, not bothered by speaking the own truth. He accepted it and reveled in it and had carefully cultivated that particular persona.

"Well," Cyril started, and then smiled a bit mischievously. "Your company is a gift." The line is cheesy and the expression shows that he knows it is, but the opening was too good not to take.

Cheesy it might be, but Kirk appreciated it. He laughed at how smoothly Cyril managed to deliver it, shaking his head at the elf.

"You are more than welcome to partake of said gift any time you choose," he said, running with the theme and flashing him a smile, bright with white teeth.

Cyril's smile widens at the way that Kirk responds to the line. That smile is beautiful and charming as anything Kirk does. "Oh good," he says.

Then, after moment, "Your realm. It's... it's more advanced than Thedas isn't it?" He doesn't know much about Kirk's home, but he does have some questions. It is an abrupt subject change, but hopefully they can flow with it.

The sudden change in subject did not go unnoticed, but he got the clue as it were. He smiled a bit and nodded.

"Quite a bit more," he admitted. "We had an era on my home planet much like your world is now, but without the magic or the dragons." He gave an encouraging smile, always happy to answer questions, even if he might edit some of his responses.

"So... what about relationships? Are you more advanced there too?"

"What do you mean?" he asked, cocking his head.

[samahl]

"Is it still..." He pauses a bit, considering how to word it. "Marriage is something between a man and a woman. It's meant for that. Can two men have a relationship without a wife in your realm? Or two women without a husband?"

He blinked at him, the question once again taking him by surprise. He could not help but laugh a little, having somewhat forgotten that that might be a concern here - marriage between one man and one woman. It was such an outdate concept on his own world. Some old religions clung to it, and they were free to practice that belief, but legally speaking you could marry every which way and all Federation planets had different views on the subject, many much, much more open than old Earth.

"Where I'm from marriage isn't meant for anything but your legal status for your tax filings, among a few other things," he chuckled. "Absolutely two men can have a relationship, or two women. They are free to marry, have children - anything a man and woman might do."

Something in Cyril's face is unreadable as he hears that. His jaw tightens a bit as he considers that ."What about more than two adults?" he ask carefully.

"I would say it's a little less common on Earth, but in plenty of other cultures it's perfectly acceptable - even the norm," he shrugged.

Cyril is thoughtful for a moment as he considers that. "I guess I'm a man before my time," he says after a moment. He sounds almost smug now.

That got a grin and a waggle of his eyebrows. "What makes you say that?"

"Because I'm with men and I can't pick just one," he teases a bit. Now that they're moving on, his humor is coming back. He grins widely. "You could be one of my collection too."

"What, you don't have a blonde, blue eyed one yet?" he teased.

[samahl]

"I don't," Cyril replies, his tone also light and teasing. "That's a real shame, isn't it?"

"Oh, it most certainly is. Everyone needs a blonde, blue-eyed stallion in their stable," he winked.

[samahl]

He chuckles a bit. "But what about you? Do you have many elves in your stable?"

[universal_charm]

"Not a one, surprisingly. I don't think I'm most elves' type, as it turns out, which is frankly par for the course even back home."

Spock was not an elf, but he did have the pointed ears, and elf and hobgoblin were two of his more affectionate nicknames coming from Bones.

"Maybe not Dalish elves, because they are picky and entirely too stubborn," Cyril agrees. "But city elves might find you charming."

"And what do you find my, Cyril?" he asked, making his eyes slightly wide. "Besides pretty."

[samahl]

"Oh, not just pretty, very pretty," he teases a bit. "And bright, and alluring, and confident, and, yes, charming."

He laughed. "I wasn't expecting quite so many adjectives. I didn't realize I had made such an impression."

Cyril raises one of his brows. "You have seen you, haven't you? I could find a mirror if needed." Then, after a moment. "More than all of that, Sam likes you. I trust Sam."

"I mean, I know I'm good looking, but I try not to be vain," he tossed his hair, growing shaggy in his days here, to long without a cut. He smiled a little when the other mentioned Sam. "I'm glad that speaks well of me. And hopefully he has too."
