(Closed) Discovering things about the King

Now, one should be aware that Iskandar had not been hiding his kitten from Waver. It had simply been the fact that the tiny creature was very shy around new people until he became familiar with the scent of that person. So of course the tiny thing had been hiding in the stables with Bucephalus or in Iskandar's large fur collars. When he wasn't there he was just hiding in the tent in general, taking advantage of the fact that the large King had made sure that it would be able to fit two full grown men and allow for things like sitting as well as sleeping. Perhaps it wasn't the lap of luxury but it was still nice enough for a start until the man could figure out a better housing situation.
No, he hadn't been keeping the kitten a secret at all. The topic simply hadn't come up.
On this day though, Waver would find that the kitten had become used to him and the kitten was chilly during Waver's nap in the tent. Since Iskandar was too far away (right outside the tent was just too far a way to walk for a sleepy baby), he decided he would take advantage of the familiar person nearby. So he wiggled his way out of the clothes he'd been hiding in and went over to the mage...
...and climbed up then curled on top of his face. With a yawn he went to try going back to sleep.

That wasn't even just confidence speaking. Iskandar knew that his words were true. He had a mind for strategy and would know how to plan a location that would make it strong enough to defend should that be required.

Thedas was different. Not calculated yet, not familiar enough. Besides, there was something else--
"What about the whole rifters not straying or else there's medical repercussions? Have you factored that in?"
no subject
Obviously no one had shared this with him. He'd never even heard of such a thing before when it came to them. Rifters could travel and move about. So why would they be unable to live outside of Skyhold?
no subject
He hoped he heard wrong.
no subject
Either one would be believable really. Still though... "The forests are surrounding Skyhold. We would hardly be that far away from there. I go there often with Bucephalus."
no subject
Waver paused, an idea occurring to him. "What if we went out to investigate locations, and I could try and determine the radius where things become too much."
no subject
He cared about Waver far too much for him to want to have the man not tell him even the smallest details on that.
no subject
Waver offered Iskandar two narrow eyebrows, his stance indicating the very question offended his entire state of being.
no subject
"I have not! You are very good at whining even at the best of times! That should be very handy indeed!"

Waver would rather be inside and hiding in the library with books when faced with that kind of weather.
no subject
"I forgot about the chill and that your body would not stand it as mine does!" Seriously, it was so easy to forget that people could be far more fragile than himself.
no subject
"It wasn't as if you lived in cold climates either. There'd be no reason for you to recall that from life."
no subject
Not quite what Waver had been trying to tell him but Iskandar was just that determined to build this place. He gave a nod then. "We must find you plenty of warm cloths for the winter months! You can wear your fine coat over or under them!"
no subject
Leave it to the man to change track of conversation in the middle of it. At least this thought was a practical one, and one that Waver had had on his mind as well.
"I've been trying to figure out who to contact about such a matter. Do you know someone?"
He knew everyone, after all.
no subject
He just had to figure out who they were. Shouldn't be too hard. He only hadn't yet because he wished to have a plan and location picked out before he went to present his idea. That way it would be much harder for them to say no to him!
no subject
It was one of the best things about being Alexander, honestly. Waver often found himself jealous of such abilities back home, if he was being honest.
"Did you have any idea what you want the place to look like, or how many rooms?"
no subject
Iskandar blinked at the questions then stroked his beard for a moment or so.
"I think that I would have to see what the need for beds would be first. It is possibly it would only be a temporary shelter for others. However, a more permanent thing would have to be rather large. Especially since I would wish my horse with me."
no subject
Waver paused, tapping his chin with his forefinger, humming very thoughtfully. Function dictated purpose.
"Say you have one bedroom for yourself, plus two more with two beds each at least. How is that for a start?"
no subject
That was what would really influence how this place was built in his eyes. He wanted to include Waver no matter what and that meant making sure that he was thoroughly a part of this. They were not Master and Servant but this was still one of his sworn followers. He had a duty to take care of him.
no subject
Truth be told, Waver was now too used to passing out next to Iskandar. But to not have his own room, a space to just be alone when needed, that would be it's own kind of madness. Besides, Waver had zero doubt that Iskandar would be entertaining guests in his own room. Space to let that happen while Waver could sleep sounded like a solid plan.
no subject
Iskandar did far prefer sharing a bed anyway. It was why he slept comfortably here with Waver and why he liked to be in the beds of others. Really he was something of an oversized dog and just loved the companionship that came from being in another bed with another being.
no subject
"Greek style, or something more appropriate to our surroundings?"
no subject
This was the man who had changed his name and attire to fit in with the fact that he'd conquered Persia. It only made sense that he would also turn to wearing the clothes of this land as well as want to build establishments like the ones here.
