Those sensitive to such things might notice that Cole is back. He's hard to remember at the best of times, and after such a long period, Cole himself expects virtually no one to remember who he is or that he's allowed to be here.

But it doesn't stop him doing what he does. Moving about, helping those he can.

Webs. Wait, he recalled healers using webs for their work. Was that where all of this was leading to? It was a grand circle of life! It was astounding!

"You are one of the most amazing people I have ever had the privilege of meeting, my friend. Do you always think so far ahead in order to take care of others?"

Was this something to do with him being a Spirit? He'd yet to meet one of this world so this was proving to be a fascinating experience.

Healers need webs. Spiders make webs. Spiders need food. Fruit attracts flies. There's always a logic to Cole, even if it seems incomprehensible at first.

"I think as far ahead as I need to. Healers said they need more webs." So he had arranged to fill the shortfall.

"Yes! I'd just realized they would use the webs too! You see, you are amazing! Tell me something. If you happened to hear that someone was in need of paper, what would you do?" He leaned forward with a brilliant smile on his face, so fascinated by everything that was Cole.

"Get them paper if they need it. But it has to be a need. Something that will soothe. Help. Writing a letter to a loved one. Not, like Sera, fold them, knife edge lines, make it glide into the back of a head."

Cole shifts slightly. He's not used to such intense focus on himself.

It happens! No worries!

"I see! It is not just a want but a need."

He gave a blink at the name though. He'd heard that name in song and he'd heard others reference her before. Now here was a person who clearly seemed to know her.

"You are friends with this Sera?"

"No."

Cole and Sera are not friends. Cole doesn't really have friends, full stop, but even if he did, Sera would not be one. "She'd like to stick an arrow in my face, move it creepy, why are you even here, why do they keep you?"

"Ah. Definitely not friends then." He frowned at the description then shook his head. "I would never wish such a thing for you, my friend. Though I cannot say I am fond of this Sera now for thinking such treatment of you would ever be considered decent."

"No. I scare her. A lot. All magic scares her, but spirits and demons make her heart race, it doesn't make sense, you can't stop them, they're in my head, only place it's mine-"

He shrugs slightly. "She wouldn't hurt me unless I was bad."

"Oh I see. Yes, many do seem to fear magic here. I suppose she would have a similar fear of me then."

He didn't seem the least bit bothered by this though. If she wished to fear and so on without knowing a person then that was up to her. Besides, she didn't even seem to be here to begin with.

"Maybe." Once she realised what he was, maybe.

"No, she's not here. She's being Red Jenny. It's important." She's a good person, just doesn't show it like most people. She cares, a lot.

"Red Jenny? What does that mean? It is not something I am familiar with."

If nothing else he was almost sure the man had relaxed some now that the focus was on another. He really couldn't say for certain though since he really didn't know him. At this point he was only hazarding a guess.

"Red Jenny helps the little people. A pie on the seat of the lady who humiliated her servant. An arrow through the eye of the man who goes to the orphanage's bunks at night. Sera is a Red Jenny. There are other Red Jennies."

Red Jennies help. In ways that Cole couldn't.

"I see. Red Jenny allows people some measure of power that they would not normally be able to have. A helpful cause."

He nodded slowly, getting a better idea of this organization. "How many other Red Jennies are there in this world?"

"I don't know."

Sera had something about triplets in another city who were Red Jenny... but he didn't listen much and he can't remember. "As many as there need to be?"

There was a blink before he threw his head back, actually reaching out to give the other a pat on the back for that spectacular comment. "That is a very fine answer! I like how clever you are, my friend!"

Cole staggers forward under the pat and looks up, thoroughly bewildered. "Clever?"

[conqueredhearts]

"Indeed! You are supremely clever! I cannot help but to admire it the longer we speak to each other." And that was sheer honesty. After all, he'd promised to say whatever came to his mind at a given time just for Cole.

"... I don't think I am." Cole knows he's certain things. "I'm not... Wisdom. Wise. I'm just me. I don't really understand lots of mortal things."

And with the attention back on him personally, Cole is looking uncomfortable.

"One does not need to understand nor be wise to be clever. One can still do clever things simply by having an idea and acting on it."

He laughed softly then gave a tilt of his head. "Ah but I have brought you discomfort again. Certainly not my intention but my fascination with others can be a problem for some. How about we focus on me instead? I am a King and used to all eyes on me. What would you like to know about me?"

"When they focus on me, it hurts. They hurt me."

He shifts on the spot and nods, happy to have the focus change again.

"What were you a king of?"

Well if it hurt him then he was going to have to make sure to be careful about that. So instead he let all the focus settle on him rather than asking for clarification.

"I am the King of Conquerors. In my time I ruled over many lands. I am well known and loved, in my own time and even many years after my time."

"... You're Conquest!"

That is an idea that Cole can grasp. Not the King of Conquerors, but a manifestation of Conquest is something he understands. Maybe born of Valour?

"You should have just said that. Iskandar just confused me, but Conquest I understand."

He stopped and he stared at him. Likely what one would determine was past the point of comfort. However, it wasn't for the reason one might thing.

Because soon he was laughing and smiling so brightly. He adored what Cole had come up with for him and was already adopting it to attach it to himself.

"The Spirit of Conquest! Yes! That is very much who I am!"

Cole didn't feel that discomfort and just waited quietly.

Because then there was joy bubbling past the shard, and it drew a small smile from Cole that he made Conquest laugh like that. "Conquest- that makes more sense."

"I'm pleased I'm easier to understand now. It certainly gives a firm grasp of who I am. This one I will have to share with those around me."

It was probably his favorite title to date now that he thought about it. The Spirit of Conquest. It was so perfect.
