Open log (intro!)

WHO: Prompto and you!
WHAT: Prompto arrives at Skyhold
WHEN: Now until before the move to Kirkwall
WHERE: Skyhold
NOTES: Mods are okay with him just doing his own intro, rather than a Rifter arrival log. That said, feel free to handwave your character having helped him when he first came through a Rift

[So THAT had been fun. As if falling out of a Rift and onto his butt wasn't bad enough, but then he'd been chased after by daemons and nearly killed, saved only by some sympathetic locals who luckily seemed to know how to fight.

Still rather shaken up by the whole thing, Prompto now finds himself in what they're calling Skyhold, a rather remote fortress. All he knows is that A) it's cold and B) he is so not in Eos anymore. He sticks out like a sore thumb, what with his clothes and the camera he's carrying. He often fiddles with the thing, unsure as to how he got it. It's not the camera he had back home; this thing is an old machine, where you have to develop the film by hand. Clunky, but also isn't battery charged which is good, because he hasn't seen one friggin' outlet since he arrived. In fact, he hasn't seen much of anything he's familiar with.

It's like he got dumped into some fantasy RPG.

With a pack of camera equipment, said camera around his neck, and the clothes on his back, Prompto wanders around Skyhold, looking very lost and unsure as to what he's even supposed to do, or more importantly, how to go home.]

Um... you wouldn't happen to know how I could go back to where I was?

[Help the cinnamon roll out?]

It's not, trust me.

[Flopping down onto a barstool, Korrin immediately resolves to get him another free round because she knows that look, the one of someone desperately needing something in their life that doesn't suck. The beer fairy can be generous.]

There's the usual Fereldan ale, which isn't great but isn't terrible. We also have West Hill brandy, Chasind sack mead, some expensive Orlesian shit that may or may not be worth the price, but it depends on whether you're looking to savor or just get hammered. I lean towards the honey mean or spiced wine, but nearly anything is worth a try except dwarven ale. Just don't, it takes like dirty socks at best.

[This is the voice of experience talking, please let it save you Prompto.]

[Nodding, Korrin signals for one each for them both.]

It is, or at least I think so and everyone else is just wrong. [She smirks, not about to pretend to be unbiased.] Antivan vintages are also worth trying, but thanks to Antiva being so far north relative to here, they can be expensive to get. If the Inquisition ever sends you there, though, I'd highly recommend it.

You...oh, Maker, time for the geography lesson.

[As drinks arrive, she lifts her own to him, then takes a swig.]

We're in Thedas. It's the continent, but it might as well be the entire world, since we're not sure what's beyond. Well, the Qunari might but they're not telling. This area is the Frostback Mountains, a natural border between the Empire of Orlais and the kingdom of Ferelden. They hate each other, but there hasn't been war since Ferelden booted out Orlais some decades ago. To the north is the Waking Sea and then the Free Marches, where I'm from. All individual city-states that don't have any overarching identity or pride, except for the Grand Tourney. We take that shit seriously.

Between the Free Marches and Orlais is Nevarra, which used to be part of the former but got influential enough to be its own kingdom. Its royal family is known for having dragonslayers in its line, and their order of necromancers is pretty influential. Northwest of that is the Anderfels and you'll hear about that mostly in relation to the Grey Wardens, since it's the seat of their order. It's a harsh place that produces some badass people.

Tevinter is dead north and it's different from the rest of Thedas in a lot of ways; mages are in charge, slavery is a thing, and blood magic is everywhere. They're in constant war with the Qunari of Par Vollen, great horned people from beyond who showed up and started invading everywhere else some centuries ago. They're trying to convert everyone to the Qun and think free will is a joke. I'm...not a fan.

[That gets a brief smile out of Korrin, who knows.]

Dragons get everyone's attention. We used to think they were hunted to extinction, a while ago, but around the turning of the age, there was a resurgence. That's why this age is known as the Dragon Age.

Oh, yeah. I helped kill a couple of them, too.

[She lifts the split dragon's tooth pendant that hangs around her neck for him to see.]

Got this one killing one of three that infested the Emprise du Lion area. I'm surprised that one town lasted as long as it did, with three fucking high dragons nesting nearby.
