[So THAT had been fun. As if falling out of a Rift and onto his butt wasn't bad enough, but then he'd been chased after by daemons and nearly killed, saved only by some sympathetic locals who luckily seemed to know how to fight.

Still rather shaken up by the whole thing, Prompto now finds himself in what they're calling Skyhold, a rather remote fortress. All he knows is that A) it's cold and B) he is so not in Eos anymore. He sticks out like a sore thumb, what with his clothes and the camera he's carrying. He often fiddles with the thing, unsure as to how he got it. It's not the camera he had back home; this thing is an old machine, where you have to develop the film by hand. Clunky, but also isn't battery charged which is good, because he hasn't seen one friggin' outlet since he arrived. In fact, he hasn't seen much of anything he's familiar with.

It's like he got dumped into some fantasy RPG.

With a pack of camera equipment, said camera around his neck, and the clothes on his back, Prompto wanders around Skyhold, looking very lost and unsure as to what he's even supposed to do, or more importantly, how to go home.]

Um... you wouldn't happen to know how I could go back to where I was?

Develop them? So the images are stuck in that box?

[Even if he's heard about them he still doesn't quite get how the whole thing works. How he pictures it in his mind is an instant painting on a sheet of paper.]

I'm surprised of anything working once it comes through the rift. I've heard many complain that their items being broken or just unusable.

In a... way. We'd be here awhile if I had to explain how the whole process works. And honestly, given how old of a model this is, I might have to open it and see how exactly it does. The process has changed over the years with each different kind of camera that's been developed.

[So for now, yes: the pictures are in the box.]

That would explain why everyone was so surprised to see a working camera. My phone's with me, too, but it doesn't work.

[He'll just leave it at that the 'pictures are in the box', considering he can only follow part of what was said and even then still doesn't quite get the issue besides 'older model'.]

Can't say I really know what a phone is, except that they work like our communication crystals.

Ah- [A pause before he reaches a hand out.] I'm Sam by the way. And you are?

Oh, is that what these crystals do?

[Well, that explains that.

Prompto reaches out and shakes his hand.] Prompto Argentum. Photographer, lover of chocobos, and all around tech guy. All titles that... kind of don't mean a thing here, huh?

They just gave you one without explaining it?

[Wouldn't help anyone if Prompto didn't know how to use it.]

Cho- cobos? [Honestly he isn't sure what the others pertain to, but seriously what was a chocobo?]

They might have, but honestly I was kind of freaking out a bit on the inside and maybe not paying attention as much as I should have...

Yeah, chocobos! Huge birds that you can ride on! Most of 'em are yellow.

Well that's a fair point. Still, they could have waited for you to get used to things before dumping that on you. It takes some getting used to, like knowing how to talk to certain people rather then broadcasting to the entire Inquistion.

Aaaaum... well we certainly don't have those. We do have harts, dracolisks and nuggalopes.

Oh. Huh. Is broadcasting to everyone the default...? [Whelp, if that's the case, good thing he didn't try to use it yet.]

Yeah, I noticed. [He deflates a bit. What a sad world where chocobos don't exist.] I've seen a lot of... horses, I think they're called? Seem nice enough.

Yes? All I know is that if you don't specify who you want to talk to it sends it to the other crystals.

If we're thinking of the same animal, yes, they're called horses. They're primarily how we get around. ... You don't have horses where you're from? [Perhaps he could relate to Prompto in some way if that was true. He couldn't imagine a world without them. At least around.]

Nope, never saw them before I came here. All we have are chocobos for transportation. Well, as far as using animals go, anyway.

Huh. Suppose that makes you one up on me. You've seen horses now and the most I know about a chocobo is that they're... large birds.

[Sam takes another glance down, this time looking past the camera and directly at Prompto's outfit.]

I'm sure you know this, but you really stand out in that outfit.

Too bad I can't show you one. They're great animals.

[He doubts one is just gonna come out of nowhere, so it's unlikely Sam's ever gonna get to see one.

He glances down at himself.]

Yeah, so I've, uh, noticed. Been told to get some new clothes and blend in. And I could use warmer clothes, anyway. I didn't dress for mountain fortress weather.

Too bad, but probably for the best.

[They already have people falling out of rifts, they didn't need these chocobos coming out of them as well]

Yea, I would say the sleeveless thing doesn't work too well up here.

I see I'm not the only one that's mentioned it. Did they tell you where would be good to get some?
