The manor stands in Hightown, Kirkwall's high class area where the nobles live. Fenris had intended to step in and reclaim it when he'd first arrived in Kirkwall, but there were... complications. Major complications. He's had to do quite a bit of sneaky surveillance to find out what was even going on. As he uncovered more over the course of the month, it only made him angrier. A magister had seen fit to move on in and take over while he'd been away. To make matters worse, he's brought along a bunch of slavers, and they've really started making themselves at home as they use the house as a base of operations.
Now that Fenris has all of the information, he's more sure than ever that this has to be dealt with. Immediately. It's more than he can handle alone, though.
So he asks around and finally gathers a group together to deal with it...
Group 1: Fenris, Aleron, Bethany, and Korrin
- This group will be going in first! They'll make their way through the house and generally deal with taking down slavers. There's another subthread for the initial battle against the magister and his followers.
Group 2: Inessa, Church, Saoirse, and Ellana
- After a rift erupts and Fenris makes a distress call over the crystals, these folks will be joining in. Now it's a matter of fiiighting all the demons, and making sure that rift gets sealed. (It's all on you, Church!)

Group 1 + 2: DEMONS
Here's hoping the back-up group gets here sooner than later.
(Note: Again, feel free to NPC demons as much as you'd like. Also, go ahead and make sub-threads here, if folks want to split up to fight demons in different sections of the hall, mix and mingle any way you want! There's plenty of room to spread out! I will also include a thread specifically for magister defeating for anyone to jump in on.)

He activates his Lyrium Ghost state, nearly fading from sight as it goes into effect. With that renewed, he slashes at the closest rage demon, wasting no time in getting his momentum back. He just hopes that help will arrive soon... he's not so sure they can last much longer at this rate.

He just has to get close enough first. Church has no magic and no super special video game abilities. He just has his sword. And the little shield from his shard. Well, that's one super special video game ability, but c'mon, does that really count? "Cover me," he orders, even if he's in no position to really order anyone for shit, moving in. Any demons of reasonable size in his way he'll take a slash at, but he wants to save his energy if he can to maneuver as close to the rift as he can.

There's no time to thank anyone right this moment though. That'll come later.
For now, to deal with the problem at hand. Demons are all over the place, and the rifter needs to get through. The only good part at the moment? Is that even the magister is preoccupied by the demons too, in all of this chaos.
"Right! Do as he says!" Fenris immediately phases once more into his eerie, glowing ghostly state as he slashes at the nearest demons, trying to draw and keep their attention.

Also clear is a patch through the bad guys and demons enough that he's close enough to do this. Or try to do this. So long as they watch his back. Y'know, so he doesn't get stabbed in it. He'd prefer not getting stabbed in the back. Or the front. Or at all, if it can be helped. He steadies himself, feet planted, takes a breath, and raises his hand. The bolt of green from it is a familiar shock to the system; he just hopes it's enough.

The distractions seem to be doing their job so far... but will it be enough? Fenris slashes at demons one by one, confusing them as his swift ghostly form moves around them.
There's a sudden surge of power as the rift reacts to the shard's energy slamming into it... that surge bursts out toward the demons, stunning them for a moment. The rift isn't quite closed- yet- but it appears that this is making a difference already. Another round or two ought to take it out... right? So he hopes. He's never seen a rift sealed before, only heard about it.
"They're weakened..." He stabs eagerly toward the nearest terror demon, watching it fade away after a couple of blows. But, of course, the stunned moment ends soon enough... and more demons burst through, already on the attack, sparing no one in the group. Fenris groans as a rage demon's fiery attack blazes at him. "We must buy him more time!"

The rift is again affected by the shard's energy, pulsing as it hits. It's not fully closing yet... but it definitely wavers more as Fenris takes down another demon. Right... if they want this thing closed, they need these demons gone. "We must finish them all off! Hurry!" He uses his Second Wind ability to boost his fighting, regaining some much-needed stamina. Another demon is soon gone after that... he's just got one very angry rage demon to finish off now.

He sinks heavily to a knee, weakness striking him as slow and draining as the rift is closing. "Oof. The pace. Pick up--" Church pulls his hand away from the rift again, only to put up his small glowing shield of energy. Ice particles thwack against it, bouncing or otherwise sliding to the floor. "Nice," he says about the shattered ice show with a tired, lopsided smile.

MAGISTER DEFEAT
"Fasta vass! This is the end of you and your kind!"
Although Calanthus makes an attempt to barricade the door, it's no match for an enraged warrior, even one who's battle-worn. Fenris slams into the door, bashing it open as he steadies himself with his large sword in hand. He stalks slowly toward the cornered magister.

"I've got the door covered!" she calls, both so Fenris knows who set the spell, and knows that this man isn't getting past her.

He stalks toward Calanthus, weariness showing with every step. But that doesn't stop him from bringing his sword up and striking downward with a harsh blow. "It's over. None of your kind will darken this place again."
The magister reels under the force of the attacks, noticeably weakened compared to earlier. He clearly does not like where this is going, nor certain individuals in the present company. "Pathetic elves! I'll see all of you in chains and forced to kneel in your rightful place..." He inflicts Blood Wound over the area, hoping in this moment to cause massive suffering and damage.

Bethany slammed Haste on to all of them - some of them might be able to get out of the blast radius. Others she could only hope could throw up enough defensive spells or powers to protect themselves. Next she slapped an Unshaken ontop of herself, knowing that she would need it the moment before the spell hit and ripped right through her. She remained standing, though, and through gritted teeth slapped down first a Heal spell. She regretted it was nothing pretty, just a quick burst to heal what they had lost by the initial burst, but it was all she could do. She was no Spirit Healer.
Her fingers went to her temple, as she aimed a Mind Blast at Calanthus. "Fenris, go!"

Garahel, wounded but not stricken, growls and charges. If he can help bring Calanthus down, he absolutely will.

She follows in after Ellana, sliding to halt as her staff slams into the ground and her magic begins to leech outwards. She hopes her Curse of Mortality will be enough in combination with the other magic at work.

This time, the spells hit, one by one: the blast, the paralysis, the hex, the curse... and while Calanthus doesn't yet die, he howls with rage and pain as they strike. He does what he can to attempt neutralizing them... but it's not completely enough to bring his strength back to what it was. Garahel's attack adds to the whole mess.
The magister staggers. "You can't defeat me... nor the glory of Tevinter!" Half-collapsed, the magister fights to regain the upper hand. First, a spell aimed at the group to drain away what health he can. Then... he unleashes Blood Control, casting about in desperation toward them, one by one until he finds someone who'll work. He must act swiftly... if he can set even just one of these fools against the rest of their allies, it'll be worth it...

With Unshaken still upon her, his Blood Control spell bounced off of her, but that just left someone else vulnerable to attack.

The scary thing about all this is that she doesn't know if she has the mental strength to resist a blood control spell. All she can do is try. Thankfully, she doesn't need to, because her staff -- the Scepter of Razikale -- has the Fade Cloak ability built into it, and it activates before the spell has the opportunity to test her resistance. She's invulnerable and takes full advantage of it, letting loose with an Energy Barrage of electricity. Ellana favors fire, and the desire to be vindictive and cast Flashfire is strong, because she wants this magister to feel even more panic and fear in his last moments. But a fire spell would undo the work that Bethany's doing with her ice spell, and she's a team player here.
"Well said!" she calls out to Bethany once her spell has finished and she's back into her regular combat stance.

Of course, he could purge the magic in the room, but that would undo the work of everyone fighting against the monster magister. So he opts instead to disable the man in the most effective way at his disposal. Careful to target only Calanthus and spare everyone else, mage and Fenris alike, Alron reaches out a hand and ignites the lyrium in their opponent's veins.
