[Semi-Closed] Things to do and people to see

Seeing Iskandar pat his knee, Sam gives a snort along with a slight shake of his head, a tiny grin on his face which wrinkled one side of his nose. "Perhaps after we eat." He knew Iskandar rather liked it when they were that physically close, but with flaky dough and hot ingredients involved it seemed wiser not to do that at the moment. Not to mention it would be easier to hold a conversation facing each other while they ate.

"Hm. You noticed, huh? I grew up by the sea and fish was something we ate a lot. When I was put into the Ostwick Circle we didn't get fresh fish often, and pastries really weren't a thing for us to eat." So obviously now that he was out he indulged whenever he wanted.

Taking a bite of the meat pie, Sam gave both a pleased and pained noise, enjoying the flavor but not being mindful of how hot the insides were still. "I wouldn't say it has been difficult..." he muttered the best he could while keeping his mouth open a bit to let the fish in his mouth cool. Course he couldn't think of a better way to put it. "You really don't need to butter me up."

"Hm? I'm not buttering you up." Iskandar actually popped one of the things right into his mouth without any concern for the temperature. Enjoying the flavor, he hummed a bit and leaned back in his chair. "I am simply acknowledging that you are caught up in this whether you wish to be or not. You deserve better but I cannot so easily trust Jim again. So while that is being mended I see no reason to not offer you something to help make up for that."

He smiled warmly at him then gave him a wink. "Though perhaps I should have brought this after they'd cooled a little bit."

Sam gives a huff at Iskandar at his disregard for the heat of the food and coming out no worse for wear from doing so. Show off. "They taste better when they're fresh and piping hot." Even if it did burn the roof of your mouth - for some people.

"'Cannot trust so easily'?" he asks, raising a brow as he breaks off another piece, letting the steam out and allowing for it to cool this time. "I thought you two just had a fight."

"Mm? He did not tell you? Ah well it is best if you know then." Iskandar saw no reason to keep this from Sam. Though not directly, he was involved in all of this simply by being lovers with both of them.

"You recall when Jim and I went on that small trip together in celebration of my birth? Well, he crawled upon me and relaxed me with affection. Then proceeded to scold me for sharing the letter of his confession with you, something that had taken place two months prior. Between holding onto that bitterness without talking to me about it for two months though we'd seen each other many times in that period and then also trapping me with affections to scold me for it, I felt my heart and trust break. I informed him of my wound after I went for a walk to cool my head. Then I told him I would not pursue him again for now and that it was up to him to come back to me when he was ready to mend things."

Shaking his head to indicate that 'no, he hadn't been told' - by either party technically, but he supposes Iskandar would have spilled it at any point if he had actually pressed the matter like he was now - before taking another bite of his food.

As Iskandar describes the incident Sam's chewing slows then eventually stops as he stares at the other man. "That's..." A lot more complicated then what he had imagined, but it definitely explains why the two hadn't just made up over it. He remembers mentioning to Iskandar a while back that Kirk probably hadn't liked having more consent over his letter being given, but it definitely didn't sound like Jim went about the right way of bringing it up.

Sam's sighs after a moment, thoughtful. "Well guess I'll take back about thing not being difficult, now that I actually know what it's about." This wasn't something he could try helping with either, soothing any ruffled feathers. "And... have you two been trying to mend things?"

"Yes. He approached me and we were able to speak normally. It seems he is ready to start this mending process. So now we are speaking but it will still take time."

Iskandar took another pie and popped that one into his mouth as well without care. It was also extremely hot but he didn't seem to notice as he chewed then swallowed it down as if it were nothing at all. Of course it was hard to tell if that was a spirit thing or just an Iskandar thing.

"After all, I understand his feelings and I respect them. However, it felt like he was using our affections and relationship to trap me which is something I cannot allow whether it was intentional or not. Nor do I want to trust too easily someone who would let such anger build for two months rather than confronting it. I still love him though so I do wish to rebuild and take the time to do so."

Watching Iskandar just toss the hot piece of food in his mouth without a flinch was a gift, or a concern that he couldn't actually feel pain from that. Or was it merely that he chose not to notice? Hm.

Sam's much slower in eating his food, blowing on it to ready it for when he takes a bite. Course he'd been absentmindedly blowing on it for a bit now, mulling over things rather then eating. "How Jim approached you on the matter wasn't right, but... while you two are working things out, maybe you should both give each other some slack? You and Jim are a lot alike in some ways, but you both approach Relationships," yes with a capital 'R', "differently. Maybe just keep that in mind? I mean... he isn't the only one that keeps things bottled up rather then confronting the problem straight on."

He was guilty of that himself a lot of times. It just sounded like a lot of feelings had gotten hurt on either side, and he just wanted them to work things out, rather then holding things against each other. Obviously it would take a long time regardless.

"One is allowed to bottle. However, one is not allowed to bottle then use that for trapping another into confrontation months later when they are with me. I will not ask anyone to change how they handle their feelings but I will ask for respect if I am to be confronted or scolded for my actions. For that reason, no, I will not go easy on this. He and I must rebuild and that is that. It is because I love him so fiercely that I cannot cut him some slack as you ask."

Because his trust had been shaken by someone he held so dear. Iskandar was a man who opened his heart fully and truly then left it to others to decide what to do with that. To have that broken by someone that had accepted him was an act he could not treat lightly.

Iskandar reached over to rest his hand on Sam's shoulder though, a smile on his face.

"Do not worry, Sam. Things will work out. He has come to me and we have begun the rebuilding. Time will show us where this takes us now."

The smile he returns is small, clearly laced with concern, but he nods his head regardless to indicate that he trusts Iskandar's words on that. This was something both Iskandar and Jim would have to work out in their own way. That probably was going to be the difficult part; supplying support but still staying neutral.

"Well you know me... always going to worry." Partially because this all happened over some love letters written to him. Reaching up he lightly pat the hand on his shoulder and let out a breath. "Well, thank you again for the food. It is quite good. I didn't even realize they had something like this here."

"Well if you are done eating, will you now sit on me? I do wish to hold you and I think I behaved myself well enough." He chuckled and held open his arms. Mostly he just loved to cuddle the man close and spoil him with affection. It wasn't that the other two didn't but more that he felt his size truly helped him to do it in a very special way.

"Come here."

Sam cannot help himself in what sounds like the start of a laugh, but it is quickly quieted with the help of him putting a closed fist in front of his mouth, though it does little to hide the grin. Iskandar's intentions are innocent enough, always being one for affection, but how he had said it certainly was amusing.

It never was 'sit with me' like you would normally hear, no, it was 'sit on'. Sam does get up, but instead of sitting on Iskandar, like the man informed, the mage instead grabs his hands and tugs to indicate to get on his feet. "Yes, yes, you behaved very well, but let's take this to the sofa. That'll be more comfortable."
