"Truly? I know they sing of my many deeds but I was not so aware they also paid attention to my visit to the grave of my hero." He'd known he was well remembered but it seemed just about every part of his life was documented! Fascinating!

Waver laughed at that.

"It comes up in argument about how intimate you and Hephaestion were. And Achilles and Patrocleus were, come to think of it. People are really invested in being right on those two topics for some reason."

He blinked once. Then twice.

"They wanted to know if I bedded Hephaestion so they were interested in my visit to the grave of Achilles?"

That was...odd.

"In essence, yes," Waver confirmed. "I didn't say it was a logical train of thought, but there's been a lot of discussion."

"Why would they wonder who I took to bed when there were my many other achievements to look upon?"

Strange the things that distracted historians. Did they ponder other ridiculous notions with other Heroic Spirits as well? Of course he supposed he could ask Waver but he doubted the man had ever paid much attention to those that were not Alexander the Great.

"Because people like to see themselves reflected in history, and other people are jerks, I guess."

Waver shrugged. "Besides, might as well talk about something besides battles."

"Well my battles were extraordinary..."

With that said though, he frowned a bit.

"A pity I could not simply walk up to them and inform them that I have bedded Hephaestion repeatedly. We quite enjoyed that time together honestly."

And it wasn't like Iskandar was shy about telling people about who he'd been with.

"Well, yeah, but people want to understand if you were bi, just gay, or whatever, to just slap a label on it. Your perspective and theirs are," Waver moved his fingers away from each other to indicate a long distance.

"Pretty far apart."

He watched those fingers spread. Then he blinked. Then he laughed.

"Ah! They failed to realize that I am attracted to people in general! I understand!"

"No, no, no," Waver said, rubbing his nose very slowly. "They understand that, some just want to ignore the fact that you also liked guys."

And then laughter stopped.

"Men are wonderful! Why should I not want to be with a man as I would a woman? What manner is this to want to ignore this part of me?"

"Because some people are idiots who get grossed out by that preference," he said wearily. "For whatever reason they wish to cite."

"What foolish nonsense! There is beauty to be had in any shape and what should be allowed to appreciate anything they like so long as innocents are not brought to harm." Iskandar waved his hand as if to banish the thoughts of those idiots.

"I am pleased you are an intelligent scholar. I would have been disappointed if you had become something like that. This way I can be proud of you instead."

"I have the advantage of having met you though," Waver pointed out. "So sometimes you can't fault what doesn't get transferred into the historical record and preserved for many centuries."
