♠ i. evening
[It's about as busy as it normally is for the infamous, terrible, rundown, sorry excuse of a tavern. People accept their swill, bypassing the unfortunate taste for the effect it brings, and that's about as good as it gets.
In a corner, one of the human locals of dear, sweet Kirkwall slams his fist down, snarling at Twisted Fate: "You're cheating!"
Fate, for his part, looks terribly smug and confident, his grin prominent behind the crown of his hat.]
Unless you have any proof, I kindly suggest you leave what you bargained with.
[Furious, the man throws down a purse of coins, storming off toward the bar to undoubtedly get angrily drunk as a result.
Twisted Fate helpfully calls after him:]
Maybe don't gamble if you're going to be a sore loser about it!
[Fate chuckles, snagging the coin purse. At a passing waitress, he winks at her and says:] Another tankard, if you please.
♠ ii. late evening
[Stumbling out from the tavern, Twisted Fate clears his throat and adjusts his hat. He hums a moment before clicking his tongue as he starts to make his way through Lowtown, heading in the direction of Hightown.
As he goes around a corner, a set of men are waiting for him, one of which includes the angry card player from before.]
Oh. This a welcoming party? [Fate's voice is far removed from his usual posh accent he puts on, rolling drunkenly more into his natural Dalish accent he works to obscure.] Don't think I know any of you.
["You cheated me out earlier!"]
Gonna have to be a bit more specific. [Fate sniffs and scratches his chin.] Look, you're drunk. I'm drunk. Let's worry about this before y'do anything stupid.
[That manages to only make the man more pissed off, of course.]
♠ iii. wildcard
[Do your own prompt, or message me and I'll make a specific one for you!]

ii. late evening
Hi, have a six foot eight armored Arda Elf with flame red hair. Surely he is the best peace-maker?)
There is no need for stupidity. How else can this be settled?
no subject
Oh, he remembers that voice.]
My charming rescuer.
["I-- I want my money back!" demands the man being... well, manhandled.
Twisted Fate looks down at his nails.] Shouldn't be a gambling man if you don't like to gamble your goods away. So that's not happening.
But I'm willing to forgive and forget if you all are?
no subject
If you participated in an illegal gamble, no one is right. Do not worsen it with blows and thoughts of revenge.
(He belatedly realizes he is lifting the man up too far. He sets him down with a smile of apology.)
no subject
[Thoughtfully, Twisted Fate sticks out his lower lip, tilting his head to look over the much taller elf. He does sigh a little bit at the statement, slightly disapproving.
The man, once set down, dusts himself off. The fight has died in his eyes, and finally he growls to his friends, "Let's go. Let the knife-ears piss off."
Once the men disperse, Twisted Fate chuckles and folds his arms.] Bit of a stick in the mud, are we? Good thing you're more handsome than I imagined.
no subject
No, I have simply experienced more than my fair share of revenge and illegal doings. (Summary: it never ended well and sometimes it ended in a tragedy.) Why knife-ears? The rabbit comment almost makes sense for some, but knives? I do not see any serrated edges.
(His hand comes to rest on the hilt of his still sheathed sword, the fingers relaxed. The motion is merely out of habit and something about his features softens.)
I look better than I did on Arda.

Aw, and here I was looking forward to literally tossing him out. Maybe the next one?
no subject
Next one's all yours, I promise. You allowed to drink on the job?
no subject
There's no reason not to. You know me, it takes ungodly amounts of the stuff to get me hammered and the watered down stuff they serve here doesn't even approach that.

no subject
They never do. So tell me, how have you been settling in? Have you seen all the wholesome and not-at-all creepy sights that Kirkwall has to offer?

iii wildcard -- the other powers project office
He's at his desk with the door open, as is his preference, idly smoking a cigarette and looking like he'd rather be anywhere else but here.]
no subject
So this is who stands in for dear, sweet Beleth while she's off parading in Nevarra. Kit, isn't it?
Let's see, what were her words. "I'm the one your boss warned you about", or something like that?
no subject
Kit, isn't it?
That's me. [He takes another quick drag off the cigarette, blows the smoke off to the side, then looks Fate's way again. He tries for a lopsided grin; the guy seems friendly enough.] She never got around to telling me your name though.
no subject
[Once upon a time, it may have annoyed him a little. These days, he really just thinks of her fondly. She's clever, but competitive in trying to one-up him. It's adorable.]
I go by Twisted Fate. I was away for quite sometime for a mission. I know Beleth, but I wanted to get to know you better.
no subject
[He's definitely not a tall man as he gets up and collects up several folders containing letters to be mailed.] Twisted Fate, huh? Interesting surname.

[ Beleth, with a cloth bag in her hand, steps neatly around other occupants of the tavern, giving them as wide of a berth as physically possible, until she stops at Fate's table, and makes a motion to the waitress. ]
He doesn't need another tankard. [ Luckily for Fate, this isn't Beleth's attempt to impose some kind of alcohol limit on him. Turning around to Fate, she gestures to the bag. ] I have the wine. And glasses. Do you want to drink here? [ Is that even allowed?? Who knows. ]
no subject
[Well, that does get his attention. He raises his brows at her, then he shrugs.]
I enjoy the environment, but the wine deserves better. We'll go elsewhere. Your pick, darling.
no subject
[ He gets a Look™ at the pet name, is this a thing now? Is he going to try to make this a thing? But making a deal about it will probably just encourage him. ]
...Have you been to the forest in Hightown, yet? It's a beautiful place.
[ Is it odd, to bring him there? But it's one of her favorite places in Kirkwall, and he should get a chance to see it, before Kirkwall manages to get enough people bothered to mow it down. ]
no subject
[Despite the words, it's all spoken in his usual jovial tone.]
I've seen it from the outside. Hadn't a moment to really look at it within. But if that's your fancy, then we can go.
no subject
I think I'd like to go there, yes. Unless you can think of somewhere better.
That doesn't involve trespassing or anything illegal.

He slides up a bit closer.]
Careful, or soon no one will want to play with you. And that would be a very sad day indeed.
no subject
Oh, but you'll play with me, won't you? [He says, teasing.] Now here's a pretty sight I've missed. Cyril, how've you been?
no subject
As far as playing... I know better than to bet real money against you. I'll play for fun though.
no subject
[That remark earns a laugh.] Well, you're free to play for funsies anytime. Nothing important happened with you in the last year? I suppose I could talk about my diplomatic mission but it's boring.
no subject
[He offers, making a bit of a face that shows he isn't sure how Fate will taking bringing up his family.]
