♠ i. evening
[It's about as busy as it normally is for the infamous, terrible, rundown, sorry excuse of a tavern. People accept their swill, bypassing the unfortunate taste for the effect it brings, and that's about as good as it gets.
In a corner, one of the human locals of dear, sweet Kirkwall slams his fist down, snarling at Twisted Fate: "You're cheating!"
Fate, for his part, looks terribly smug and confident, his grin prominent behind the crown of his hat.]
Unless you have any proof, I kindly suggest you leave what you bargained with.
[Furious, the man throws down a purse of coins, storming off toward the bar to undoubtedly get angrily drunk as a result.
Twisted Fate helpfully calls after him:]
Maybe don't gamble if you're going to be a sore loser about it!
[Fate chuckles, snagging the coin purse. At a passing waitress, he winks at her and says:] Another tankard, if you please.
♠ ii. late evening
[Stumbling out from the tavern, Twisted Fate clears his throat and adjusts his hat. He hums a moment before clicking his tongue as he starts to make his way through Lowtown, heading in the direction of Hightown.
As he goes around a corner, a set of men are waiting for him, one of which includes the angry card player from before.]
Oh. This a welcoming party? [Fate's voice is far removed from his usual posh accent he puts on, rolling drunkenly more into his natural Dalish accent he works to obscure.] Don't think I know any of you.
["You cheated me out earlier!"]
Gonna have to be a bit more specific. [Fate sniffs and scratches his chin.] Look, you're drunk. I'm drunk. Let's worry about this before y'do anything stupid.
[That manages to only make the man more pissed off, of course.]
♠ iii. wildcard
[Do your own prompt, or message me and I'll make a specific one for you!]

They never do. So tell me, how have you been settling in? Have you seen all the wholesome and not-at-all creepy sights that Kirkwall has to offer?
no subject
The Blooming Rose is just as nice as I remember it. [He chuckles.]

So I hear, but I try to stay away from Hightown for the most part. You know how they can be to anyone not of the elite. The only reason I go there is for Sina's forest, anyway. [Her expression softens a touch, but she refuses to bring down the mood.]
Did you ever get to visit the Black Emporium, when you were here last? I'm so pissed that they just picked up and left before I got to see the place for myself.

[Something about the way Korrin reacts to the mention of Sina or the forest -- of which, he doesn't know -- is suspiciously somber. Fate rubs his chin thoughtfully.]
Mmm? No. No, I hadn't. Take about five steps back though: I don't know much about the forest. Did something happen there?
...Or is it Sina?
no subject
[But despite Sina being at the forefront of it, Korrin can't bring herself to be even a little mad at her. That just isn't possible, even before she was dying.]
no subject
Frankly, I'd call it an improvement, as much as I enjoy the city life.
no subject
I agree. What comes out of that forest feeds more people than the garden did, and as long as it doesn't erupt into violence, the people of Hightown could do with a little reminder that they can't control everything.

How has dear Clan Ashara been? I've mostly been speaking with Beleth since my return. She has a lot to say without really being personal about it. [Despite the words, he does sound a bit fond.]

Sorrel. Isn't that her brother? I've not had the chance to meet him.
no subject
Yeah, he was back with his clan when you were here last. But ever since Sina's condition has gone downhill, he's been around to look after her. [Korrin stares down at her drink, knowing it won't be long now.] I don't know if he'll stay, after. Maybe, if Beleth asks.
no subject
[Well, Twisted Fate knew that Sina wasn't well, but the idea that her condition had gotten worse just never quite occurred to him.]
How is Sina?
no subject
She's dying, Fate. That damned chest shard has taken its toll and her body's giving out. She can't sit up, let alone swallow some broth.
no subject
[It was only a matter of time, he supposes. And in truth, there's so little he can actually do for her, but--]
Creators, I should have come back sooner.
no subject
[She reaches over to give him a squeeze.]
I'd be there now, but Nahariel looked as though she could use some one-on-one time with her, and I couldn't deny her that.
no subject
[Twisted Fate nods in return.] That's fair. I suppose I'll have to pick a time to see her, then.
no subject
[Leaning back, she sighs.]
...it's like watching Asher all over again. At least Sina wasn't meant to die in battle, but still. It's hard watching it and knowing there's not a damn thing you can do to stop it.
no subject
I'm sorry. I know I'm not the only one who's lost loved ones. You've much to deal with as well.
no subject
[She hasn't even told him about Kas, and that topic hurts too much to reveal the truth even if it's safe to do so.]
But hey, we're still here. I tell myself to stay alive for Araceli, my family, and just to spite the asshole who wants to kill us all. So far, it's working.
