{Magic Lessons - Before/During/After}
Even though Fallow Mire had been trying, it doesn't mean that he can just take a break from his lessons. Sam is progressing with his Spirit magic with the help of Lady LeBlanc, as well as learning to control Ice spells to a point, though having difficulty. He's also trying to get the grasp on Storm magic with the help of Roul.


{The Armory}
With the new shipment of ores from the Fallow Mire there have been numerous orders for armor and weapons. Seeing as his sparring lessons with Krem have been put on hold for now for... reaons, he spends most late afternoons/early evenings helping with the forges.


{The Library}
He's still having issues falling asleep since the bog so Sam spends a good amount of time in the library in the evenings. That's not the only thing keeping him up. There are a number of crumpled up papers on the floor as he tries to figure out what to say in a letter.

Sam blinks. He had- oh. "No, I wasn't telling you not to worry about it. I was-" Ah jeez this was complicated; how did he explain this? "You were answering the question. I agree a lot of what we do will be determined by who gets chosen as the Divine; history and anything we currently do. I was just commenting that the Inquisition as a whole already has enough to consider when we make any move."

"Oh. I agree, then. We can't project future politics and act accordingly."

"Speaking of politics, how are you doing on the council? Is everyone treating you fairly?"

[mythalenaste]

"It's a headache, and I've caught myself playing politics. Right now those non-conservatives among us are trying to come up with an alternative to Harrowings. If you've any ideas, I'd like to hear them, by the by."

At the mention of the Harrowing Sam finds himself frowning. "Cyril actually came looking for me to tell me about that tidbit. I'm not at all thrilled to hear that they're even considering Harrowings. Even if I get their reasoning, it is a terrible thing to force someone to do. They don't have Templars or non-Mages go through it."

"None of the Dalish are going through it. We'll withdraw from the Council and deny its authority before that happens. If reason doesn't win the day, the Council will simply be that much less powerful. Which isn't ideal for anyone."

"Would that stop the Council from voting on it if you did that?" Wouldn't that just remove the Dalish's voice from Mage concerns rather then prevent it from happening. "The Council are just representatives, right? Even if - Maker forbid - they did agree on that... would we even have to adhere to their choice?" He's already gone through his Harrowing so it didn't affect him so much, but the idea of another Mage having to do it when they've clearly separated from the Chantry.

Come to think of it, if something like this passed it could be possible that they would consider having everyone redo their Harrowing.

"You might have just shown us all the way, Sam."

Her grin is diabolical.

Alright, that was a bit unsettling, enough to have Sam raise a brow and lean back a bit.

"... I- did...?" What did he say?

"Well, the Council is unlikely to vote for something that a majority of the mages will refuse to obey. The Council only has as much power as the mages are willing to give to it. If your opinion is popular among other Circle mages, maybe you ought to make the Loyalist councilors aware of that."

Sam blinks, staring at Pel for a long moment. "Me?" Pel wanted him to talk to the Loyalist councilors? "I would think a good amount of us are against Harrowings, but I don't know if we're a majority."

"Find out. And if it's true, tell your friends to speak to the Council."

[el_tybs]

He sighs at that. Well this had escalated quickly. All he thought he was doing was stretching his legs. "I'll... ask around."

Oh, don't look so put upon, Sam. Pel is so smug because she's pretty sure she's making politics her bitch.

"Serannas. Now. Another question I had for you, a lot more pleasant: how are things with Krem?"

Honestly he shouldn't be surprised when Pel asks that, but he is. Talk about a subject change.

"I-... it's complicated? Why has he said something?'

"I'm friends with you both, aren't I? I can inquire about your well-being and you can decline to answer, if you please."

"You are," he smiles slightly at hearing that Pel considers him a friend. Even so that doesn't change his answer much. Krem didn't mention that Pel knew about... things so it wasn't like he could openly talk about their current situation.

As per usual when he's nervous or unsure, Sam brings a hand up and rubs the back of his head. "I think we're okay? I want us to be okay. Just haven't talked much since the Mire."

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"Yea-No...? Maybe?" Sam makes a face as he tries to figure that out actually. He can't really elaborate on some things.

"Some things just came up while we were there. He's really bothered by it, enough that I don't think he quite believes me when I say it doesn't bother me. Just... kind of giving him space while he figures some things out."

"About his...?"

She has to be sure Sam is talking about what she thinks he's talking about.

"Body?" Sure, that word could cover any number of things.

"Ah-"

Sam blinks at the word, his mouth opening for a moment and then closing right after. How did-

Pel slept in the same room as Krem.

There's a sigh. Well he hadn't mentioned that tidbit either.

"You know?"

"I know." Pel shifts slightly, not certain that she's really qualified to give advice. But Sam probably needs to vent, and he can only do that with someone who is also in on the secret. "I help him with his binder some mornings."

The binder. That leather piece that Adelaide had gone out to fix? "How did you find out? He told you?"
