WHAT: Kain gets some very interesting whiskey to try out

It's one of those chilly nights that's better spent inside. Kain has been more or less stuck in the area since getting snowed in. Conditions around the city are improving, but it's still not great to return to the mountains. So, of course, it's time to bust out the strong drinks.

He's brought a few drinks of his own along this evening, including one that he'd picked up at some point during the travels to Nevarra. Labeled Dragongut alongside a drawing of a dragon, it was mysterious when he bought it, and it's just as peculiar now. Apparently it's some sort of whiskey though. He's got to admit, he's interested. So, he pours himself some, drinking it straight without mixing anything else in.

"Ah, that's... strong. Strong, but good..." He suddenly makes a face, eyes widening as he's hit with a weird indigestion sensation. There's no use holding it back for long. He gets up abruptly and backs away, opening his mouth wide as an impressive burst of flames very suddenly blasts out. The whole display only lasts a couple of moments at most, and fortunately doesn't catch anything... but it's definitely not an everyday sight in the gallows at dinner.

"You didn't? Are you sick or something? 'Cause if you are, I don't wanna catch that illness." Even as she speaks, she's edging away from him in case he's contagious. The last thing she needs is to set shit on fire just by opening her mouth.

Setting things randomly aflame isn't something Kain exactly wants to do regularly, either. Though it could certainly come in handy, in certain circumstances, he's all too eager to admit. It could be useful. Maybe. He runs his tongue around inside his mouth, just trying to probe for any burned spots. It feels surprisingly fine, though.

"I can assure you, I'm not contagious. In fact..." He picks up the bottle, holding it up so that its dragon-symbol can be clearly seen alongside the name. "I believe I have the cause of the problem narrowed down."

Minka blinks at the bottle, about to say (for the thousandth time it feels like since she arrived in Kirkwall) that she can't read, but then she sees the dragon and it gives her pause. Hold on; wait for it.

"What, the drink made you breathe fire? Like a dragon? What kind of messed up shit is that?"

While it may sound messed-up to some people, the whole thing sounds incredible to Kain, who nods and even has a hint of a little smile on his face for a moment, before returning to the usual serious demeanor.

"It seems to be a very temporary effect, at least... but an incredible one. Emulating dragons isn't such a bad thing, after all... they have such power and majesty..." He trails off, realizing he's going too far into that wistfulness, so he clears his throat and returns to somewhat normal. Again. "I wish I knew more about it, though. How it was made, and why..."
