[Closed] Housewarming

WHO: Thor, Loki
WHAT: Do curtains really have to match drapes?
WHEN: Sliiiightly forward dated
WHERE: Kirkwall
NOTES: Potential racism, potential brotherly stabbing.

It's not their first choice of estate they wind up buying, or even their second. It's a few places down the list but it has a grand fountain (currently frozen) and a grand hall (currently dusty and empty) and two rooms that are equally large on opposite sides of the house. Thor loves his brother dearly, but sometimes they both really need their space.

Currently he's standing in the grand hall, shaking his head at a fabric supplier.

"I do not see why red and gold are not always... in season, and why they should not be what our hall is draped in. Flowers have seasons. Grandness should not."

"One would imagine that Kirkwall of all places had red in abundance," Loki complained idly. It isn't that he desires red accents all about their new estate, but the idea of being denied something so basic is an affront to him...almost as much of an affront as this dreadful glass in the windows.

"Serault glass or nothing, you hear me," he snaps back at the man cataloging the changes they wish to make to the superstructure of the home. If they cannot have a peristyle, they will at least have a fashionable foyer.

"And the gilding on the moulding is not optional. Travel to Orlais if you must, I will pay the difference.

"Valet!" Loki shouts and his elf slave dips in from the other room, already bowing and ready to serve. He's a good elf which is why Loki has kept him on for ten years, clad in finery and cared for better than most human poor in Tevinter. "See to it that you acquire...ah hire some decent maids. I will not have this hall looking as if the whole house is sinking into the mud."

"Who cares?" Loki asks and restrains himself from openly rolling his eyes. His valet bows and ducks out of the room, the elves and dwarves that enter and take his place are less polite.

"He has been arrested and sits under the heavy watch of that rifter elf fellow," Loki explains and glances back down at the checklist in his hands.

"Speaking of which, I would not concern yourself with the waiting, brother. Our talents will not be turned away," Loki states with full confidence as he marks off the acquisition of proper staff. His valet is nothing if not competent. "Consider this time to...unpack.

"Unpack and remodel, did these people tear out every piece of proper architecture when they parted from the Imperium?"

"What? No, it's perfectly stable, just hideous," Loki replies and directs some of the dwarves to the stairs so that they might begin properly repairing them. They aren't marble, but they will do with some new wood inlays and a good hard refinishing. He notices his brother turning carefully, keeping him at the front as he strides the hall, but he cannot fault him.

A healthy dose of paranoia is good for him, really, and Loki is very nearly proud to have inspired it.

"We are not suspected as members of the Venatori, nor were we found in their company," Loki explains. "The dalish savage rather likes me, I expect, and the rifter elf fellow is distrustful but clever enough to be amenable. He will not turn on you without considerable provacation."

Loki pauses his directing to turn back to Thor.

"Do not assault any of the Qunari filth that litter Kirkwall; he will take personal exception, I'm sure." Loki turns back and gestures at the widows walks on the second and third floor. Several men are currently trying to hang their house banner between the lot of them and fumbling terribly.

"You there, turn it the other way!" He shakes his head and returns the conversation to Thor. "Brother, it would do you well to always assume that someone is going to stab you in the back. If nothing else, I would have hoped you'd be prepared for that by now."
