It's not their first choice of estate they wind up buying, or even their second. It's a few places down the list but it has a grand fountain (currently frozen) and a grand hall (currently dusty and empty) and two rooms that are equally large on opposite sides of the house. Thor loves his brother dearly, but sometimes they both really need their space.
Currently he's standing in the grand hall, shaking his head at a fabric supplier.
"I do not see why red and gold are not always... in season, and why they should not be what our hall is draped in. Flowers have seasons. Grandness should not."

"It is a shame we could not bring some well-trained ones, but..." But they probably would have been kicked out of Kirkwall and had all of that training wasted. One elf is already risky, but they could hardly leave the valet behind. He sighs as he drops back to rejoin Loki and watch a few people scampering around.
"At least it is not a bad place to sit and wait." He hates sitting and waiting. It's the worst. "How much do you think Corypheus is gaining while they are indisposed? And what do you think Atticus is up to?" Not Benedict. Benedict, in his mind, is the tiny follower of his brother who always spent time mooning around and being useless.

"He has been arrested and sits under the heavy watch of that rifter elf fellow," Loki explains and glances back down at the checklist in his hands.
"Speaking of which, I would not concern yourself with the waiting, brother. Our talents will not be turned away," Loki states with full confidence as he marks off the acquisition of proper staff. His valet is nothing if not competent. "Consider this time to...unpack.
"Unpack and remodel, did these people tear out every piece of proper architecture when they parted from the Imperium?"

As he speaks, Thor is very carefully turning his back away from Loki. That's not an invitation. He likes to go many months between stabbings, and they're only at two or three at this point. In the meanwhile, he looks around the house. It's big. And pretty. That's... about all he knows about it.
"Are you saying it is unstable?"

A healthy dose of paranoia is good for him, really, and Loki is very nearly proud to have inspired it.
"We are not suspected as members of the Venatori, nor were we found in their company," Loki explains. "The dalish savage rather likes me, I expect, and the rifter elf fellow is distrustful but clever enough to be amenable. He will not turn on you without considerable provacation."
Loki pauses his directing to turn back to Thor.
"Do not assault any of the Qunari filth that litter Kirkwall; he will take personal exception, I'm sure." Loki turns back and gestures at the widows walks on the second and third floor. Several men are currently trying to hang their house banner between the lot of them and fumbling terribly.
"You there, turn it the other way!" He shakes his head and returns the conversation to Thor. "Brother, it would do you well to always assume that someone is going to stab you in the back. If nothing else, I would have hoped you'd be prepared for that by now."
