[ D'Artagnan notices her leaning back. He's so fond of, and so generally used to horses that it's hard for him to fathom someone being frightened of them. Still, he recognises the signs when he sees them. Both because of that, and for the sake of general politeness, he slides off the horse's back and pats it's neck as he lands solidly beside her. He keeps hold of the reins. ]

Well then. Let's make it somewhere that I can leave him outside, shall we? It's far easier to talk to you from down here.

[ He turns back, heading in the general direction of one of the nicer areas of town. He can't bring Adalia anywhere with all these ruffians. ]

I don't mind the water. There's plenty a marketplace in Paris that smells just as much like fish without any of that view. Are you thirsty?

[ Pubs, in Lowtown. D'Artagnan is already familiar with many of them. He's seen many such an establishment in Paris, and they're generally not places you'd find women in. Unless one meant women of a certain type, that is. Things are different here, but d'Artagnan still has to fight down that sense of trepidation. It's all right, though; if anyone decides they'd like to bother Adalia, they can take it up with him. ]

I am. After you, Mademoiselle. Shall we?

[ He offers her his arm, and keeps his other hand firmly on the horse's reins. ]

I was, and remain, a soldier to the king of France. He is not here to direct me, so I must do as honour dictates, and that is to help these people as much as I can. Parts of this city remind me of Paris. [ Not the good parts of either place, unfortunately. ] But Paris is bigger, and inland, not on an island. I wish I could show it to you, though if I did, they would be more curious about you than anything else. There are no elves in my world. Having met you, I find that a great shame.
