[ That makes sense, since Dalish don't serve High Dragons. ]
Well, now you know! Obviously one must serve a High Dragon if one wishes to be a reaver.

Oh dear, that's the sort of question one ought to ask an Elder. I haven't a clue who to send you to as all mine are quite dead. [ She doesn't seem especially upset about that. ]
I suppose you could say that the reavers are those who seek to be as close as we may hope to be to our Most High Elders? We drink the elixir to see the visions she would grant us, to hold her power in ourselves. Something like that.

[ There are so many questions she needs to ask to understand any of this that she can't decide which to ask first and forgets to ask anything, simply staring off at the ground and blinking, brows knit together and mouth slightly ajar. ]

[ She almost sounds sympathetic. Not very much, because obviously she's a reaver and not a recruiter, so they are well outside of her wheelhouse. ]

[ She frowns slightly. ]
I do hope you aren't. That would be quite outside of my abilities. To begin with, we haven't a single dragon.

[ She doesn't plan on joining the Qun either, no matter what anyone might think. ]
I just think it's interesting. Learning about different folk, ya know.

[ That pleases her a little, in some ways that are secret and guilty, that her Beloved would have flayed her for. ]
That is a comforting thought!

I also, um, [ she starts after a momentary silence. ] Wanted to thank you.

Goodness, I can’t imagine what for.

[ What, cut off the hands of the man who tortured Derrica? No matter how well-received that might be by Poesia, Athessa still feels like that shouldn't be what she thanks her for. ]
You looked out for Derrica. In the dungeon. I mean I know that it's a little bit on all of us to watch each other's backs in the field, but-- [ She shrugs. She doesn't have a good ending for that sentence, so she just lets it hang incomplete in the air. ]
no subject
Well, really it is. ]
Dear Athessa! You give me too much credit. Derrica is very dear and I found her company most charming when we were not otherwise indisposed, but you mustn't assume I did her any such service while we were chained. [ She smiles and it's sharp and predatory. ]
A dog in chains is not overly concerned how her fellows feel about her growls, only that those who've chained her know fear. Rather I am grateful to her, she did turn my head towards a more satisfying goal. And I do so love the chance to please a beautiful woman.

I am glad you chopped that fucker's hands off.
no subject
Naturally, dear. I promised Derrica them, after all. [ She taps her chin thoughtfully. ] I should ask if she would like the other, now that I've had a proper come down. It can be rather hard to give up the whole of one's prey sometimes and I was viciously jealous of my dearest bunny for striking the killing blow.

Well, if you do, [ She says as she gets back to her feet. Best get back to her own duties and let Poesia have her time in the sunshine while it lasts. ] You may want to just give her the bones. The flesh will start to rot soon.
no subject
Oh dear, I believe you're right... I suppose I will never hear the end of it if I allow that.
[ Good manners should always be observed when possible. She waves to Athessa as she settles back into her lounge. ]
It was terribly lovely speaking to you, dear.
