that mighty dragon, he ceased his fearless roar

WHO: Dragon-slayers
WHAT: The three Inquisition teams face their dragony foes
WHEN: Guardian 28
WHERE: Emprise du Lion
NOTES: Violence, gore, etc. This log contains closed threads for the 12 characters who were assigned slots on the dragon-fighting quest. Each team has an info pack-type starter about its dragon below. From here it is up to you to coordinate OOCly and decide how you want things to go down, and to NPC the dragon as needed. It also has an open thread for post-dragon-slaying tavern boasting.

By the end of Guardian Judicael's Crossing is repaired, at least enough to send Inquisition agents across on foot. But there is another obstacle preventing them from reestablishing a link between Sahrnia and the outside world: three high dragons have taken up residence across the bridge in an area called the Pools of the Sun. Here, the only road out through the mountains winds between rocky hills, ruins, and statuary. The remains of three structures dominate the landscape, arenas commissioned by Orlesian nobility in ages past.

Each of the teams has been assigned a dragon, and given as much information about it as the Inquisition has been able to gather from a few cautious scouting missions. This consists of where it sleeps and its primary method of attack. Though Inquisition resources are not great, they have had mages working overtime preparing at least basic protections against the dragons' elemental magic. While not enough to prevent injury altogether, they do significantly increase chances of escaping without dire casualties. They have also been provided with a small stock of healing and lyrium potions.

The three teams have been chosen from among the most-suited of the volunteers, and are dispatched across the river together. They split off on arrival, each making their way to the dragon's location and, at a roughly simultaneous moment, beginning the attack.

"You got match'n horns. You and your sort call 'em in with your wily, horny ways." Ale. Ale's good. Ale that wasn't half sloshed over his pint would be better but- bump a Vashoth, get the horns. Or. Shoulder. He moped- no, mopped, at the mess before draining the rest. "Fire. So much fire. And little ones. Biting, screaming little ones."

Eh, it's a mess that she can repay him for in a moment. Korrin did just say she was buying people a round, after all. That includes one of her favorite people. Gesturing to the bar for a refill, she works to drain hers as well in anticipation of it. "Oh, so you were stuck with that one--that was in the far corner, right? And ugh, I hate having to fight dragonlings at the same time. That's far too much bullshit to put up with at once. It's almost as bad as that awful shriek they all make."

"Noisy." He'd had a headache since the damn thing landed and was downed- hell he had a headache since they were called in to fight a damn dragon. But they won. Shit yeah. "I'm gonna hear that noise in my sleep for months."

At that, Korrin flashes him a grin. "Not if I don't give you some maraas-lok, you won't. I don't have any on me, but when we get back to Skyhold, I bet there'll be another care package waiting. Take what you need to knock yourself out. I pass it on to someone for the damn reason, if not the same source."

"Whole mess a things t'keep a body up at night. How 'bout you? You sleep'n pretty well?" The hook in his smirk lays out the words he doesn't say. You sleep'n alone? Because that's how it is with them. They poke, they tease, they take note. And Mal has noted that pretty little something Korrin's gotten adorably dumb over.

That smirk gets an easy laugh out of her, and Korrin wouldn't even try to deny that there's a tiny, gorgeous woman behind a lot of her smiles lately. "I manage, with the help of a certain dashing rogue and fledgling bard, who might also just be the best cook in the south. Though to be fair, I did promise to provide her with a Vashoth heating pad for enduring yet more cold and snow so I'm not just mooching here."
aintwejust: (you think you're so sly don't you?)

"Mhmm." Good thing one of them was sleep'n well. Korrin's overdue somth'n sweet. Of their messed up li'l trio she's the one most likely to find somone- Asher's too wild to really pin down and Mal's particular. It's good to see, though. Damn good. "Think I might get t'try some of that cook'n without be'n a heat'n pad? Not that I don't think she's purdy- don't wanna settle in where there ain't room for me."
gatheringstorm: (friendly)

"Aw, Mal. So considerate." Korrin waves for a drink refill for them before turning back to nod. "And hell yes, that ought to happen; a night of good cooking and good company. Jayne, too, of course. He'd never forgive us if he wasn't invited. Lux -her fox- might try to troll him, but he's also smart enough to know when to back off."

"I have my moments." Not many of 'em, he's a mean old man what ain't all that old even if it feels like it. Still. Drink for drink he settles, glad for the ale and glad they made it out alive. "Figure we deserve a good meal after that mess."
