[closed] you suck so passionately

WHO: Beleth, Cade (Alistair later)((AND NERVA))
WHAT: THROW DOWN
WHEN: the last day or so in Emprise de Lion
WHERE: Sahrnia Camp
NOTES: There will be a thread for reactions if you'd like your character to be present/see it from the side, but please don't intervene!

Cade has been a bit off since the red lyrium incident. The initial bout of overt aggression passed a while ago, but he has remained sensitive to how much still hangs around the camps; this compounded with how little sleep he's getting, how cold it is here, and the general desolation of being in a place where so many of his former brethren have been fouled by evil, has put him in a black mood colored by the lingering paranoia and heightened aggression he's felt ever since coming in contact with the accursed stuff.

He is on-duty as a camp guard, having been held back from returning to the field as a result of what happened the last time. He has worn a ditch in the snow from his ceaseless pacing, and his bearing is twitchy, over-reactive, and suspicious.

Between dragonslaying and other less glamorous tasks, Korrin isn't the first to hear news of what happened. But at some point, she overhears a coupe of scouts discussing Beleth's injuries so she leaves some healing supplies at her tent. When more news trickles down, about Cade's rampage and Beleth switching tents, the Vashoth mage's concern deepens. So she'll go seek her out there, only refraining from barging in should anyone be in the middle of changing. (See, Cade? Manners.)

"Beleth?"

At the sound of her name, Beleth starts, like Korrin had shouted it. She'd been reclining, but as the qunari woman entered, she shot up to a sitting position, body tense. But when she sees who it is, she relaxes. She settles in her position, smiling at Korrin.

"Hey! I got your healing supplies. Thank you for those. Sorry I didn't come thank you sooner. I've been, ah. Busy."

That tension doesn't go unnoticed, and Korrin takes in other details with a worried frown. She shakes her head, not having come here for thanks. "Don't worry about it. So have I, but I can tell you all about that later. I overheard that my twitchy tentmate went on a rampage and hurt someone. It was you, wasn't it? Because now I'm regretting not doing more to that idiot when I had the chance."

When Cade is mentioned, Beleth frowns. Oddly enough, the frown only grows when Korrin goes on to mention taking action against him. It's a conflicting feeling, whenever anyone gets mad at Cade on her behalf. He deserves it. She knows he does. She just has to stop and think about that terror she felt when he grabbed her hair and slammed her into the ground. But next to that image is the bewildered confusion, the fear and guilt on his face afterwards.

He deserves it. But she still feels shitty.

Instead of trying to deal with the emotions, she just covers her face with her hands, sighing quietly. She rubs her face a little, trying to think of what to say. The polite thing would be to just agree. He was awful, crazy, a rabid Templar who shouldn't have been allowed here. And it wouldn't be a lie. After a few moments, she finally said, "I don't think anybody saw it coming. Even him. Especially me. But he's been sent back to Skyhold--Which I'm sure you figured out. So now he's their headache."

"Good, let him rot in the dungeon." Korrin huffs and crosses her arms, undoubtedly hoping he'd be in there for the rest of his days. "They'd better not just give him a slap on the wrist for this; the Inquisition can't afford loose canons, especially Templars."

One rants at them all for being 'godless', another snaps and attacks her friend...yeah, her opinion of them is firmly in the gutter. If this is the 'New' Templar Order, they're in deep shit. "If you want, my tent definitely has more space now. You're welcome to share it, and I'll make sure no one else messes with you."

"I'm leaving it up to the Inquisition to decide what's to be done to him." She pulls a hand down from her face, and eyes Korrin. She trusts Korrin a great deal, but she also knows Korrin, and knows how she feels about Templars. "And I want everyone else to, as well. The mages and Templars don't need more issues between them."

"Alistair volunteered to let me stay with him for now, Korrin. And Adelaide is there, too. She's a healer, so--But you probably...knew that." Seeing how they were on the same council and all. Smooth, Beleth. "Besides, I'm sure you getting a whole tent to yourself would be nice, even if it's only for a few more days. I'm sure Araceli would appreciate it."

Little eyebrow wiggle. Even smoother.

"I can't even punch him in the face? Just once?" Korrin knows that won't fly, but she'll doubtless be fantasizing about it a great deal. "...fine. You ask so much of me. As long as they keep him away from you and weapons, I'll hold back."

Barely. That comment and eyebrow wiggle distract her, though, and she smirks. "I think she would greatly appreciate that, considering. The first time she stopped by the tent, we ended up traumatizing the moron with our mere presence. He caught one glimpse of my chest and ran off like I'd set his ass on fire."

Now she's dearly wishing she had.

"If Skyhold doesn't do anything, you can bet Merrick will. Which may start a huge feud between Dalish and Templars, but who knows." Beleth sighed quietly, shaking her head. "I can't really stop him, unfortunately. But--I don't know. That's a problem for another time. Hopefully Cade will be safe behind bars while I figure out what to do about that."

She stopped, staring at Korrin for a few moments with wide, unbelieving eyes. Then for what feels like the first time in ages, she breaks into a wide grin, laughing loudly at the story. "You're kidding me! No wonder he went off the deep edge, he obviously couldn't--" She paused, trying to think of the right words without sounding...lewd. "--Handle the magnificence." Did that sound weird. That was probably weird.

...right, Merrick. Korrin just shakes her head, knowing that she can't stop him either and not even really wanting to do so. Granted, she doesn't want to see him arrested or a feud begin, but that twitchy asshole brought it upon himself.

That laughter turns her mind from darker thoughts, at least for now, and Korrin grins smugly. "I know, right? I haven't seen him since, though I swear he's been in the tent when I haven't been around. I even heard from the scouts that he's been falling asleep on duty instead of just getting another tent. What an idiot."

"I don't really know what to do about Merrick. I know he won't leave Cade alone, even if I ask him to." Even if Beleth wanted him to. "But--If he kills Cade, then he'll get in a lot of trouble. And if I warn people to watch out for him, then he might get in a lot of trouble anyway, and not get the chance to even hit Cade a little." And in all fairness, if Merrick was going to get in trouble no matter what--Well, she didn't want Cade dead. But maybe he could have a lopsided nose, too.

"Oh, yeah. The first time I saw him in Emprise, he'd fallen asleep at his post." She paused, fidgeting with her scarf. "I, um. I kind of pushed him into the snow and ran before he realized what happened." She frowns at that, tilting her head. "...I was kind of a jerk to him, wasn't I...? I was just mad at him because he was always so dismissive in Skyhold. I don't think he even recognized me. But--" The frown deepens, fingers brushing against the bump on her nose. "--Even if it's my fault, I don't. Really think. That's good problem solving."

Realizing that her actions at the tent indirectly spurred this incident, Korrin winces. She wouldn't normally give a damn about accidentally flashing the twitchy idiot, but it's an uncomfortable position to be in. Even if he would have run off anyway, she hadn't exactly helped. So her tone when she responds is hardly judgmental, even though that wasn't likely anyway. Bias and all.

"Probably not, but I can't say I would have done any different in your shoes. The only reason I haven't trolled Templars is because of my responsibility to the Council to...well, not keep the peace, but not make it any worse. But I wouldn't lose any sleep over this, Beleth. He was a rude ass, and also a primed gaatlok barrel ready to go off. We don't need assholes like that running around loose, endangering everyone else."

With any luck, they'll leave him to rot in a cell and they won't have to waste any further thought on him. Merrick gets her to sigh, though. "If you stand no chance of getting through to Merrick, I sure as hell don't. I can only say that if it happens in my presence, I'll do my best to keep that trouble to a minimum. Much as Cade richly deserves a trashing."
