[Open] An Honor to Serve

WHO: Ser Ingrid Kief and you!
WHAT: A new templar has arrived from the Anderfels to help where she can.
WHEN: Her arrival through Drakonis
WHERE: In and around Skyhold
NOTES: None yet

Templar Quarters

Where else does a templar belong than with her brothers and sisters in faith? She's a bit awkward, but trying to determine how many others are here, where they come from, and, of course, who happens to be in charge so she can report in to her new commanding officers.

Sparring Grounds

Daily sparring practice has been one of her chores since she was barely big enough to hold a stick and a makeshift shield. It's important to keep skills sharp, and she can be found practicing with dummies, or inviting others to spar with her.

Chapel

Faith is what sustains her abilities as a templar. Faith has pushed her through the difficult road she's had in coming here. Faith is her solace, and she can be found often in the chapel, kneeling at the feet of Andraste, reciting the Chant of Light in Ander, absently fiddling with a curious dark red pendant around her neck.

Chapel

Adelaide, admittedly, is not one for prayer. Is not one for singing the chant, for attending such services- there are more things she might do with her time than sit and sing to an empty fade. But with all that cut at her the past few weeks, all that left her unsteady, uncertain...another bulwark between her and the demons that linger when she tries to sleep is not without merit.

Not that a chapel or singing the chant repels them but such places tend to hold the lingering song of spirits of hope, of faith, of fortitude and compassion. For this Adelaide wavers in the doorway, listening. Familiar whispers sooth her mind- the chant? Surprises her. She had not thought anyone would be here at this time of day and stutters to a stop where she'd been walking, half aware. "I- apologize. I did not wish to intrude."

Belinda is usually in the chapel at first light. She's far from the only devout Andrastian in Skyhold, and she's seen familiar faces come and go as she goes through her daily prayers. In this time of darkness and uncertainty, she likes to recite verses from Trials, and she does so quietly until she hears another voice reciting in a different language. She doesn't recognize it, but she stops and listens anyway.

She waits until the woman has finished before speaking.

"Hello. I hope it's all right that I was listening? I don't know the language. Oh, Maker, I hope you understand what I'm saying now, or I've just embarrassed myself!"

She hesitates for a moment, but only a moment before stepping deeper into the sanctuary. Faith's song is strongest where most would kneel to pray or to sing- lingering whispers. It settles her, somewhat. "I have never heard the chant in that tongue."

She flinches at the name- she can't help not. But it is a people, it is a language, more than it is one man. "I have a sister there; she speaks well of the people."

Of it's artisans, of the Wardens.

"It is a long way to travel, from Weisshaupt to Skyhold." Orlesians, Marchers, Fereldans- those are somewhat expected. But an Ander?

"Oh, good," she says, her relief evident. She would have felt bad for yammering on when the woman couldn't understand her, so it's a good thing she can!

"I know a bit of Orlesian, and Antivan too, but that's just what I was taught growing up. I probably couldn't speak a full sentence now!" She chuckles a little at herself.

"I'm Belinda. It's nice to meet you."

Templar Quarters

The other Knight Commanders had informed him that another Templar had joined their ranks -- and all things considered they'd feel more 'comfortable' if Norrington talked to her first. He was frankly, confused, but in the Maker's name, all that. A sister had traveled to join them and he would certainly be happy to speak with her.

He knocked on the door to her quarters, hand resting on the pommel of his sword in an 'at ease' position as he waited for her to respond.

Belinda is quick to get to her feet too, shaking the offered hand warmly. Her eyes briefly fall to rest on the strange pendant, but then it's back up at Ingrid's eyes. She doesn't want to be nosy.

"Did you just come all the way from the Anderfels, or have you been here awhile?"
embracelight: (yet shall the Maker be my guide)

"I've been with the Inquisition since the beginning, but I've been out on a mission for awhile now, so this is my first time at Skyhold. It's wonderful, isn't it?" She's been gushing about it to anyone who will listen.

"Templars in the Anderfels take interest in the Inquisition?" That is support she had not quite expected.

"It is a bit literal by way of corruption and poison at that- as such you are not wrong." Welcome to the south, where the templars spout red crystal and there is no Divine.

"Most of us came here for sanctuary from the war. Helping...is a pleasant side effect." A useful one, no doubt. A beat passes before she offers her hand, tentatively, and her name. "Adelaide LeBlanc of the Inquisition's Council of Magi."

James ... blinked at that accent, before he sighed. Mentally. Oh, he thought he was starting to understand why the other Knight Commanders might have had an issue with approaching this Templar.

He looks at her, just as carefully, before he nods his head just once.

"Knight Commander James Norrington, Templar." Was his formal reply, before he returned said salute then added, "At ease. What is your name, soldier and where are your orders?"

If she had orders.

"We don't get snow too often in the Marches either, until it's the Vimmark Mountains. That's why I'm glad Skyhold has hot springs." They're such a help with sore muscles, but they're keeping them all warm too.
