Herald's Rest

While her room's been mysteriously stolen by a mysterious shiteface, the tavern is still Sera's home in Skyhold. Drinking, playing cards, trying to avoid the weirdly intense gaze of the lady bard, Sera can be found doing them all now that she's finally back. As the night goes on the cheating becomes more flagrant and the stories louder, accompanied by wider and more dramatic arm flailing and occasional reenactments. Eventually, she tells the Tale Of The Time Cassandra Punched a Bear's Heart Out And It Got All Over The Herald's Clothes And I Laughed Then Shot Other Bears With Arrows. During her demonstration of the punch, she throws her hand back a little too hard and fast, hitting someone or knocking a drink over. But dealing with that has to wait until the story's done.

Out and About

Sera hadn't spent much time in the old fortress since she'd had to go off on Very Important Jenny Business (Possibly Involving Fire Ants and Honey), so it's time to get to know the place by the back of her hand again before starting up her services to the local community. Every hidden passage and unlocked (and unoccupied locked) room gets poked and prodded as the week goes on. All expect for one very specific room where she knows Creepy Cole likes to linger in, like some stupid ghost of the attic. Unless there's a juicy conversation to be overheard, she doesn't bother with stealth, just walking in and up to anything and anyone that strikes her. Anyone looking particularly servant-like will be getting chatted up whether the like it or not, along with most everyone else she comes across.

"You mean, when you lockpicked it open."

Katniss stated dryly, looking around at everything to make sure that everything is in place. All right, she didn't appear to be robbed blind, so that was something. The knife went away, which seemed to do a lot for calming both of them down.

The wolf pup, ran around and yipped at the young woman, before butting his head against her boot.

"Thanks. My adopted sister found it for me, when I first came here." One eyebrow arched, "I fixed it up out of my own coin."

"What I said, innit it? Opened."

Picking the lock, sneaking in the window then unlocking it, all good game. S'not like she's stealing. Just getting to know the place again. But looked like the pup was the friendly sort, so down she comes, scooting off the bed until her butt hit the floor, and got to petting the pup.

"Yeah? Lotsa gold in running 'round with wolfies?"

See, this was the conversation she had with Garris, except in Real Life. Sigh, rogues.

She shook her head as she went to unhook her satchel, giving Buttercup a hiss of a welcome before she went to put out food for both of the animals.

The pup shoved his head and body into Sera's hands, wiggling around happily.

"Not exactly - but there's more than a fair bit of coin in the hunting trade. Which is what I am." Katniss stated, hanging up her bow and quiver as well on the wall.

"Hm. Food. Good call. Only stupid folk mess with that. Meaning you know all the morons with money that need sorting."

Because only the really, really stupid rich bitched at the people that brought them their food. Making Sera's job of poisoning their food so much easier. And Fun.

"Precisely. And the morons who do decide to mess with me get charged twice."

Katniss curled up on one of the branches, watching the pup nip at Sera's fingers. Buttercup had curled up on his branch, high up, watching the other woman warily.

"So ... can I ask why you broke into my house without stealing anything? You like cats that much?" A pause. "And can I get a name, or do I just get to call you Weird Lockingpicking Animal Lover?"

"Way to long for a petname. Creeper, might be. Or Most Incredible Thief Ever. But it's Sera. The hut's new. So had to make it old."

Logic.

"I like Creeper, actually." A pause, and then one eyebrow raised up, "Wait - Sera? Red Jenny Sera? ... was this hut not here when you first got here?"

"You weren't. Makes it new enough."

Nor was this puppy. Which is nor more or less in her lap, whether it likes it or not. Blame it on the being Ferelden thing. Weaknesses for mutts ran deep.

"And, yeah, that's me. Funny how fast that spread."

"Huh .... fair enough. You have been gone awhile, haven't you?"

And since Katniss can't sit still to save her damned life unless she's looking off at the mountains, she reaches over to a shelf where she's got a leather pouch she's been working on, and gets to stitching.

"Don't worry, not that fast. I'm close with a lot of the refugees - one or two mentioned how you helped them get back at some of the nobles."

"Ha ha, yeah. Always help a friend in need, yeah?"

She doesn't even need specifics to laugh. All of her little acts of friendships were fun. Sometimes bloody. Just made it better, for some pricks.

"Took a little walk around after Haven. Hate watching dust settle. Just makes everyone all itchy."

"Well I usually don't help my friends with theft and assault -- but sure. They seemed well pleased with the acquaintance at any rate."

Was Katniss's wry reply, as she continued to work.

"Were you with that guy named Solas?"

"Pfft. I look like I've got a fiery staff lodged up my pucker? Just a joke, us coming back so close."
