No one has ever claimed that 'the Anderfels' is a particularly pretty name for a place, but it is somehow still too nice for the land itself. Bone-dry and blasted by hot, dusty winds for most of the year, the steppeland of the Anderfels has been harsh and unforgiving country since long before the Blights began. It is barren in every sense of the word: all greys and browns and blood-rust reds, the monotony broken more often by black outcroppings of rock than by greenery, with settlements few and far between. Even where blight has not turned the ground dark and toxic, it feels like a place people are not meant to live. Not anymore.

Varric has already got Bianca on-hand because, let's be honest, when doesn't he have Bianca on hand? Especially while wandering around increasingly suspicious and alarmingly samey looking fortresses. He cast a sidelong look at the rest of the team--were they walking? Was this an invitation they were going to turn down? Was this an invitation that merited a considerable amount of haste?
Really, with so much strange shit going on, he was having a hard time gauging.
"Anybody going to explain what's going on outside, or is this one of those 'fight everything as we go' situations?"

"Something's happened to the First Warden in Hossberg. The High Constable thinks that Tevinter's master might be there, or coming here--he said to make sure you got out, and everyone else we could gather up. Someone's let the demons loose."
These ten Wardens are among the more egregiously rushed, all alert with fear but a few still crusty-eyed and mussy-haired from being pulled out of bed. That's as strong a hint as any that they don't have more information than that. Even if they did, there's no time to keep talking about who's deposed whom or who's to blame before some of the aforementioned demons come around the corner--not alone. There are five mages ahead of them, leading rather than led. The woman in front puts her hands up as quickly as two of the Wardens in front of the Inquisition group's doors nock and draw arrows.
"Don't," she says, hoarse and sharp. The rage demon crackling behind her does not say anything in particular. To her left, the boy from before--Henri--is slower to raise his hands, eyes still wide and distant.

Sera is whipping out her bow and notching an arrow without saying a single other thing. Unless she's stopped that thing is going to be let fly right at demon faces. She doesn't care about the details and reasons. There's only one place demons go, and it's on the pointy end of her arrows.

Herc's partway to giving Varric a Look, the kind that says just how far up a creek they are if what the warden say is true, and the kind that has some certainty about what they should do when Sera steps forward.
There's always gotta be a hothead. This'd be easier if he wasn't trying to operate around a song in his head that he's gotta pretend isn't there, but Striker Eureka is in hand without hesitation.
Better get going, then. Sera's made the call, but he barks out "Sera, hold your damn fire," and he lunges to steady her hand - Maker knows if he makes it in time. "Listen, first."
Get the knowledge, act as best you can. Not that it had served him too well of late, admittedly.

"Warden's siding with the demons now?"

The look he throws to the approaching wardens is pointed. "You better have something real convincing to say."

Her grip on her bow is white knuckled. There had better be answers quick, or there's going to be in fighting in the group.
