"I did read all of it."

So much for that excuse. Iskandar reached over to nudge him with the book a couple of times. Almost as if he were some kind of impatient child.

"That's why I'm speaking to you now."

Damnit, failure. Waver sighed, and looked up at Iskandar with heavy eyes. Yeah, this was like when the pets tried to wake him up at God knows what hour.

"Mmmkay. Tell me about them then."

Maybe he can just fall asleep to that....

He blinked a few times and leaned forward to actually lean over him.

"Why are you trying to sleep at this hour, boy? There is still much that can be done in the day!"

He'd tell him stories in a moment. Right now he was trying to get someone to live his life!

"I'm feeling tired and want to nap? S'not uncommon."

Waver stretched out a little, his knees brushing against Iskandar.

"What have you been doing to make you so tired?"

It wasn't as if Waver was the most active person that he knew of. Shifting closer, he stretched out on his side and propped his head up on his hand.

Waver inched closer, bracing his back against Iskandar's front. There. It was starting to gt cooler, which meant that it was time to start taking advantage of Iskandar the human space heater.

"Pulling the cat down from high points that I don't know how the hell he got here."

Okay he had to laugh at that one, wrapping his arm around that slender waist. He could just picture the frustrations of Waver getting the cat down and turning to find the cat was suddenly up on a shelf again somehow. Hephaestion Alexander was tiny but he was bold and very curious.

"He truly is not aware of how small he is."

"He got stuck on the stupid not-crown molding that's around the room and there's nothing else he could climb. It's like he got up there magically. This cat, Iskandar!"

Waver huffed, glad for the hand around his waist. It felt nice there, and he closed his eyes.

He just had to laugh at that again. Really the thought of the cat mewling and Waver looking around baffled trying to find him was amazing.

"And this was happening all day?"

[kartereo]

"Yes. I think he thinks it's a game now."

Waver shook his head, exhausted. "He's got too much of you in him."

The King laughed softly and tucked some of that long hair back from Waver's face.

"Well he is mine. It would make sense that he should take after me."

[kartereo]

"Well it isn't so great for me," Waver grumbled.

"You were going to tell me book highlights?"

[conqueredhearts]

"Ah yes. Did you know that the one who ended the fourth Blight was an elf?"

He'd start with that. After all, the heroic victory of someone who happened to be an elf was exciting to him. Especially given how they were treated by the people of these lands.

[kartereo]

"I did not. Their name was...?"

Waver didn't fight the yawn that escaped him. If anything, this should be enough to knock him out for a few hours.

"Garahel! That is the same name as Inessa's mabari actually. I had no idea he was named for so grand a hero."

Obviously he was looking forward to telling Inessa his discovery the next time he thought of it when he was with her.

[kartereo]

"Jeez, that's like naming a dog Achilles or something."

Wait. That's not a suggestion.

[conqueredhearts]

Iskandar blinked.

"But I named mine after Achilles..."

[kartereo]

"Rather my point. I suspect they already know who they named their pet for."

Waver grinned up at Iskandar, and gave him a gentle nudge. "C'mon then, tell me of his exploits."

Iskandar's eyes lit up. He was probably misunderstanding this so why not ask?

"About Achilles?"

What did one expect? He idolized that man.

[kartereo]

"No! The one who fought the blight! I know you're more or less a walking catalog of Achilles' greatness."

Waver groaned, gently nudging Iskandar in the ribs. "And I know those stories already."

He pouted at the nudging. Obviously Waver was too much a feather for it to do anything really. In fact they both knew it only rocked Iskandar some because the man allowed it to.

"He was a great hero. I enjoy his stories."

[kartereo]

"Achilles? Oh, I know," Waver laughed, nudging Iskandar again. "Down to visiting his grave. That's gone down in history as much as anything else about you."

Wait.

"Or did you mean the blight guy?"

[conqueredhearts]

"Achilles. There are mentions of my visiting his grave?"

He'd really only skimmed through his histories. Mainly because he'd lived them so why read them again? Mostly he'd been curious enough to see a general idea of what people had shared before finding more interesting things to read about. Such as things that were not simply wandering through the past and were instead moving forward.

Sometimes he realized it was really no wonder he and Saber had disagreed on ideals.

[kartereo]

"Yeah. Actually, some people make a pretty big deal out of it," Waver said, the eyeroll very clear in his voice. He wasn't going to mention why it was, did anyone want to hear about 2000 years of historians debating their sexuality? Probably not.

[conqueredhearts]

"Truly? I know they sing of my many deeds but I was not so aware they also paid attention to my visit to the grave of my hero." He'd known he was well remembered but it seemed just about every part of his life was documented! Fascinating!
