WHO: Anyone who wants to come!
WHAT: Cyril plans a surprise party for Sam and Kirk
WHEN: This Saturday
WHERE: Sam and Kirk's home
NOTES: This is the party Cyril started planning here. I'm going to include two header comments for prep before the party, and for Kirk and Sam to come home so everyone can enjoy the 'Surprise!' moment, otherwise, please treat this like a normal mingle post, put in your characters enjoying the party and tag around!

Cyril was pleased with how many had wanted to help with this party. Christine had offered to distract both Kirk and Sam. Adasse had put together some tasty potatoes. Korrin had arrived to help arrange furniture to use the space better for a crowd and had brought spiced wine and sweets. Anders had helped with decorations.

They had done well, even with the food shortage, and the house smelled inviting thanks the the work of everyone coming together.

Kirk smiled when Prompto came up, glad the other had come to the party - even though he had not been expecting a party at all, but still, it was appreciated. He takes the offered gift and opens it, grinning when he sees the contents.

"You have quite an eye, Prompto," he praised, laughing at one of Jaylah and the cats being cute together, Jaylah in the middle of it all naturally, prima donna that she was.

"Thanks! Glad you like it." He figured it was a pretty good bet, but you never know. "Cyril helped out with wrangling them and getting them to pose."

"Something told me that sneaky thing would be in on this."

His words are warm though, clearly affectionate towards the elf and especially the gift. He set the gift aside and wrapped his arm around Prompto in a quick hug.

"Thank you, Prompto. I love it. I'm glad your camera can work here, too."

"He was in on just about everything to do with this. Gotta give him credit for being able to hide it from both of you."

Prompto returns the hug, giving Kirk a hearty pat on the back before pulling back.

"Wish it was my digital one, but then it wouldn't work for long. So I guess, yeah, I'm lucky I have one that I can use here." So long as supplies last, which, they're just about down to zero.

"It is a bit weird that we can't make more advanced materials work here, or they just completely refuse to work when they do come here," Kirk admitted. "Though I suppose going through some sort of inter-dimensional space warp probably messes with them to a degree." He missed his communicator okay? It was his one for sure shot out of here. Well, all right, not sure, but a better chance than most, and it was a useless paperweight at the bottom of his trunk.

"You keeping unfrozen?" he asked, referring to the time they had sat together, our shoveling snow.

Weird and frustrating. "Yeah, it's kind of a wonder we come through okay. Though without electricity, a lot of the advanced stuff probably wouldn't last here too long." His cell phone also's a dead weight in his trunk, long since dead and unable to be charged. Sometimes he misses being able to look at his photos on there and play around on it.

"Yeah, more or less!" Layers and fireplaces work wonders. "How've you been holding up?"

Kirk's might have. It had a solar back-up. It was hard to gather solar energy out in space, so they relief on the electricity produced from the nuclear engines. Engineers had added to the solar backup on many of their electronics, especially those critical for communication and survival, on the off chance they were stranded on a planet.

"Less electrical charge, perhaps?" he suggested. "More organic material? It's any number of guesses." Which was always frustrating. He didn't like that sort of thing. He liked answers.

"Oh, well enough," he shrugged. "Just taking it one day at a time, as usual. Not much else to really do here, right?"

Fancy pants with the fancy technology there.

"Yeah, no clue. Still, what I wouldn't give to just be able to be on my phone for an hour, you know?" He misses it. If nothing else, he has a few photos of his friends in there and of home. It'd be nice to look at them again.

"Besides work and getting drinks, no not really. Ugh. We need like a movie theater in this town." Never mind that it wouldn't work. "Or like a theater production. Something."

"Heh, well, you could start it up. Where there's a will there's a way, right? I'm sure you could get one of the eccentric upper crust to back you," he chuckled. "I'd back you with what I had. I'd at least come and see your first show for sure. You put on a great epic from your world, yeah? You'd be the talk of Thedas!"

Prompto laughs, half amused and half incredulous. "Me? Act? Noooooooo no no no no. No way. Not a good liar or able to pretend to be something I'm not." Says the dude who hides his insecurities and doubts all the damn time.

"It's not really lying. It's telling a story, and you're being authentic to the story. You're telling someone else's truth," he reasoned, not believing Prompto at all. He seemed like just the sort that would do well in a theatre setting, he thought. He had the exuberance for it.

"But you gotta put yourself in someone else's shoes and memorize lines and all that, right?" The memorization part doesn't sound all that great. Not to mention the stage fright... "Not to mention I'd probably puke if I got put in front of a bunch of people like that."
