With the Rifters drifting in and out of memory, the Templar needing a near constant slow infusion of lyrium--some needing to be doped up with sleeping draughts as fast as Colin, Christine, and the others who’ve devoted their time to the pursuit can make them--and the runners moving slower and slower as they sleep less and less, it's decided that moving everyone to a more easily watchable location for care would be the best, and safest, play.

[Nahariel, Colin, Audra, and any others who remain blessedly unaffected and volunteer are headed out to wrangle you... u mad?]

II. You'll pry my room out of my cold dead hands!

They're going to try to push for it, but aren't going to force you. They do need to know where you are, especially the Rifters... who keep being forgotten just this side of entirely. Your location information is going to be taken down, and they'll continue to come visit you. This can be handwaved, or we can thread it out!

[If you'd like your poor sick bb to be dragged out kicking and screaming, go ahead and indicate that in your tag. Alternately, send me a line @ shaestorms and we can figure out how to pry you loose together. Once you're there, throw a tag to whine about it if you like!]

"I am not angry with him." he answers tersely, "It is a relief he can heal so well."

"You sound mad."

Elros leans to look up at him.

[castintoflames]

"I'm...unhappy...with the circumstances that led to you being injured." and that he hadn't known.

[tar_minyatur]

"I'm sorry we hurt you by not telling. But you would have forbidden me, and there was no time to talk you round."

[castintoflames]

"Or I would have demanded to come along." there was that option too, Elros, "I'm not a complete ogre."

[tar_minyatur]

"I couldn't take the risk you might've refused. You and Maglor both, you're hovering like hummingbirds!"

[castintoflames]

"And?" he is unmoved, "That is family. Being loved is not easy."

[tar_minyatur]

"Which is why I didn't argue about taking Maglor, did I?"

[castintoflames]

"Oh he you told and involved." his nose wrinkles, "Is it because he is quieter?"

[tar_minyatur]

"It's because he's worse than you." Elros says flatly. "More unwell, I mean. He needs to see me, or he gets... upset."

He pales and goes very still. Yes, he knows his brother is unwell. It terrifies him that Maglor might leave him in the same way he had left him.

"He fears slumbering."

"Amongst other things." Elros pinches his nose.

"I'm no Elrond. I don't know how to help except by letting him hover. But you have Fingon. And I really am too old to need a babysitter."

[castintoflames]

"No, it's... He fears sleeping like Grandmother Miriel." he snorts softly and shifts, "Our intention is not to babysit. Our intention is to keep you."

"Hmph. Not surprised - you've noticed how worn around the edges he is? He's like you were on bad days."

Elros sighs and nudges against him.

"You have already let me go." He says gently. "You need to accept that."

"I've noticed." he doesn't know what to do about it either. When he was having a bad day, he usually had to wait for it to pass. But after everything Kano has endured, what if it never passes?

Maedhros reaches out for him without thinking.

"I...can't."

It was one of the reasons he lost his grip on everything.

Elros lets him tug him closer.

"Idiot." He says gently. "You have to. I'm mortal, Maedhros. One day, I will take the last great adventure. You had best get used to the idea."

He nudges their heads together, his expression pained.

"I don't want you to take it without me."

Yes, it is childish, but when love takes hold, Maedhros has a difficult time being grounded and logical.

"You already did."

Elros points out.

[castintoflames]

"That angers you. You have accepted it because you feel you have no other choice. But that is not so!" he growls.

[tar_minyatur]

"You died Maedhros. What other choice do I have?" Elros growls back, eyes flashing.

"You sent Elrond and I away and then you died."

[castintoflames]

"You...remembered me? You knew...?" Maedhros pales to a lighter shade of blue, "I did not let you go in my heart."

[tar_minyatur]

Elros rolls his eyes.

"Of course we remembered you. Fool! You raised us, taught us, guarded us... when the news came to us of your death... do you have any idea how you hurt Elrond? He's a healer. He failed you. I had to sit on him!"

[castintoflames]

He notices a certain absence and his heart clenches in his chest.

"What of you, dear one? Elrond did not fail me." he smiles sadly, "A Healer cannot repair what has been shattered into thousands of pieces. I was not well when Finno rescued me; I was not well when I raised you and your brother. I was like a sculpture made out of sand."

"Elrond thinks he did." Elros glares. "You and Maglor were the closest thing to parents we had, and we knew, we knew you were broken. But Elrond always, always wants to heal, and you died."

Still, he says nothing of himself.

"I will do my best to set him right should we meet again." Maedhros gazes at him fixedly, "Elros, you speak of his pain so eloquently, but I have yet to hear of yours."
