Templar Quarters

Where else does a templar belong than with her brothers and sisters in faith? She's a bit awkward, but trying to determine how many others are here, where they come from, and, of course, who happens to be in charge so she can report in to her new commanding officers.

Sparring Grounds

Daily sparring practice has been one of her chores since she was barely big enough to hold a stick and a makeshift shield. It's important to keep skills sharp, and she can be found practicing with dummies, or inviting others to spar with her.

Chapel

Faith is what sustains her abilities as a templar. Faith has pushed her through the difficult road she's had in coming here. Faith is her solace, and she can be found often in the chapel, kneeling at the feet of Andraste, reciting the Chant of Light in Ander, absently fiddling with a curious dark red pendant around her neck.

"It's wonderful that you get to see such a different place! Do you like it here so far?" Belinda certainly wouldn't like a place that was all dirt and sand. She loves green, growing things, and gentle breezes. Life in Ingrid's homeland sounds rough indeed.

"It is..." Ingrid hesitates, searching for the right word. "Different." She shrugs.

[embracelight]

Oh. Well, that's true enough. Maybe Ingrid just needs time?

"I imagine it must be."

[ingrid_kief]

"There have been... many changes. But the Maker will see me through," she says decisively. She grips the chain around her neck all the more firmly.

[embracelight]

"That's a good way to look at it." Her eye is once again drawn to the pendant. "Is that a symbol of the Chantry?" she asks. "I've not seen one like it before." Belinda usually wears a sunburst pendant under her clothes and armor, so she always has the Maker's love close to her heart.

[ingrid_kief]

Ingrid shakes her head.
"No. It is a Warden pendant. A memento of my husband's Joining."

"Oh, is your husband one of the Wardens here?" Belinda knows very little about them, but that is usually the way Wardens like it, isn't it? And because of their secrets, she doesn't really know about their mementos or what they do with them. Maybe they always give them to a loved one.

[ingrid_kief]

She shakes her head again.
"No. He is dead," she answers softly, "But these pendants are made at Joinings, to remember those who do not make it through."

[embracelight]

"Oh, I'm so sorry." Belinda hadn't meant to force Ingrid to speak of painful things like this.

"Are you a Warden too?"

[ingrid_kief]

Another shake of her head.

"No. I was never a candidate for the Wardens. I am a templar."

[embracelight]

"Oh! How did the Circles in the Anderfels fare? I know so little about what happens out there." She smiles sadly. "I was a Templar until over a year ago. I left the Order over the Lord Seeker's views. It was very... difficult for me at the time."

[ingrid_kief]

"As intact as can be, last I knew. But I was serving in a chantry, not a Circle, when I was sent here." She gives Belinda a wry smile. "We Anders do not find time to get out much, and visitors do not consider our land hospitable."

Her expression becomes sympathetic.
"I am sorry. It is hard to lose one's family, even one built in faith."

Belinda nods along. Plenty of Templars serve in other places, but after her training she was sent to a Circle. Probably the most sedate Circle ever, really.

"It is good the mages there haven't been so affected by this war. And thank you. Everything lately have made me do a lot of soul searching. But I'm feeling confident that everything will work out."
